All nations should help support the development of a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world’s most persistent problems.

As the global network has developed greatly in recent years, more and more cooperation between different nations has begun to serve as an important way of solving the world’s most persistent problems. Although in a practical aspect, the author’s suggestion to set up a specifically designed university aiming to solve such global problems as population explosion, nuclear propagation, and energy crisis may entail great difficulties, we can not deny the important role played by academia in the solution of the global problems.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of scientific technology and economy, many people around the world are enjoying a more convenient and comfortable life than before. However, such rapid development has not eliminate all the problems within the human society, on the contrary, it has indeed brought into some new and more critical problems due to the development of some military weapons like the nuclear bombs and the growing consumption of the world’s resources. Since the difficulty of solving such problems has gone beyond a sole country’s ability, different countries have to cooperate to handle the great tasks. In this respect, setting up a specifically designed university specialized in solving the most severe global problems may serve as an effective way.
Firstly, such university, once being set up, may gather experts in international affairs from all over the world, and enroll students who aspire to contribute to the solution of the most critical crisis of human beings. All of these may help to a great extent to hammer out effective measures to solve the persistent social problems. Additionally, such a university may be regarded as a symbol of the power and strength of human unity. It can be also respected as the symbol of the strength of academia in solving the global problems. So, even if building such a university may not eliminate all the persistent troubles existing in today’s world, the symbolism of this university may functions well in encouraging human beings to achieve their goal through unity, it may clang the bell for our descendants to remind them the importance of solidarity and cooperation.  

Admitted of the importance of setting up such a university, we have to realize the concomitant difficulty in building it at the same time. As a matter of fact, such a university, as it aim of cooperation, needs support from different countries all over the world. These countries may possess different cultural and economic basis. Even to the nations sharing the similar cultural and economic background, the project of building up such a university may also be rejected by authorities due to their different attitudes and intentions towards the very social problems. To most developing countries, they do not have enough money to support building such a university meanwhile, to most developed countries, many of them may find it a waste of money for they have already maintain such national universities which may be enough for helping themselves in solving such problems.

In conclusion, although from a practical perspective, it will be hard and even impossible to fulfill the author’s proposition, we can not thus ignore the profound influence to the solution of the worldwide persistent problems which would be exerted by such a university.
