How to keep a enterprise in a vibrant and creative situation permanently? How to revitalize a enterprise lack of initiatives to revive again? The accurate answer is the mechanism of limiting the term of leadership to avoid bureaucracy and torpid environment and careful consideration of how to define a proper period of the term.

It is unfortunate but true that without fear of losing their power, leaders, no matter how brilliant, wise and integral they are, are tend to abuse it. The corruption is the natural outgrowth of fame, success and wealth. A leader who lead a institution, a company or even a country to great success is naturally reverenced by his companions, subordinate and people. However such reverence even flatterence can seduce a initially sagacious, cool-minded leader losing his wise judgments and becoming indiscreet. The fact can be illustrated by a vivid example of a once famous enterprise in Switzerland. Enron Crusterate, who salvages a company which produced mobile phone and was on the verge of bankrupt and successfully transforms it from a heavy debted one into one of the largest mobile phone producer in his country has been arrested by corruption and appropriating company funding in 2003. To err is human. Everybody is prone to fallacy. Therefore, to prevent such unfortunate things, complementary measures from outside should be adopted accordingly. That is to say: limiting the term of leadership.

Consequently, the introduction of periodic change in leadership can temper the issue in some extent. By using this method, a company, government or other institutions can maintain properly competitive surroundings which generate consequent pressures on the incumbents and more importantly create a fair and promising chance to intelligent young men who aim to climb up to top of the echelons. It is a effective way. The incumbents who are prone to bent their principle to their own interest will eventually and definitely replaced by more competent successors. Meanwhile, the newly emerged leaders can bring new ideals of managing and leading, and in the same time instill new flesh into companies. As result of that, the company can keep pace with the fast changing times.

As for the importance of periodic changing of leadership, how to set a scientific tenure which is not too long or too short is the key issue. It is acknowledged that longer terms would ossify the enterprise while shorter ones may create instability. This is always truth in business world. However, a definite period such as five years is unreasonable and the range depends on different situations. It usually takes a long time for the effect of a project, especially which acquires a large amount of money, to emerge. During the waiting period, the constant change of chief leader or supervisor would harm the health operation of the project, render it to higher risks and even result in its undeserved failure. Similarly, when a enterprise is entangling with some troubles, the providence of the decision about whether to change a leader or not is of paramount significance.

In sum, limiting the term of leadership is an effective way to prevent corruption and lack of creativities. To guarantee the smooth operation of this measure and thus develop its greatest efficacy, a reasonable period of term should be considered discreetly.
