Wilderness area, place seldom disrupted by human activity, is heaven for creatures naturally developed in this life community. Should government preserve publicly owned wilderness area in their natural state even though these areas often extremely remote and thus accessible to only a few people? Considering exaggerated (夸大的?)contribution of wilderness areas to sustainable and balanced development of entire ecology system(?ecosystem), our government should take its compulsory and primary responsibilities to protect them from threat of human civilization(?interference).
It is universally acknowledged that wilderness areas are indispensable parts of natural environment. The protection of wilderness areas is also the defense for human’s living conditions. The entire ecosystem likes a complete human body which consists of organs with various functions. In order to keep its continuous and fine running, all organs should maintain their normal condition and work in harmony with each other. Wilderness areas including virgin forest, wetland and other remote regions are organs which bear paramount responsibility to prevent ecosystem from malfunction. Taking virgin forests for example, as the lung of our earth, they use photosynthesis to sustain constant climate and adjust it by controlling precipitation and vaporous procedures. Only through tropical rainforests can 40 percent oxygen needed by human be provided. When it comes to wetlands, lots of researchers credited them as kidney of nature. In wetlands grow several plants which have strong efficacy to exterminate poisonous materials to purify water polluted(polluted water). As efficient filters, these wetlands drain lots of harmful issues out of our ecosystem. Overall, wilderness areas are so important that people can not burden the costs of its destruction.(这样用比喻写很不错,我就苦于虽然知道很重要, 但具体不好说,你这样写得很生动)
In addition, wilderness area has significant meaning for biological, ecological and historical researches. To begin with, these untouched areas are also genetic reservoirs, where plants and animals that do not exist elsewhere still survive. They are potential sources for immense untapped material wealth in the form of food, medicine and other commercially important substances. For example, Tibet, west and remote region of China, is home for various precious creatures and the most primary genetic reservoirs in the world. Nowadays, there are over 96 hundreds wild plants in Tibet being included into Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES). Lots of biologists try to find answers of origination and evolution of life through studying these distinctive creatures in Tibet. On the other hand, the intact places as part of country's heritage lets people discovery and reconstruct their ancestors' spectacular past. As for archaeologists, these untouched areas are invaluable resource to study culture, convention and civilization of past. Recently, old relics of Qing dynasty have been discovered in remote desert of South China. These relics are highly possible the crucial clues to resolve the enigma why the most prosperous civilization of ancient China disappeared so quickly Consequently, preservation of wilderness areas are conservation of biodiversity of natural environment and legacy past down by our ancestors
Experiences told all countries that without efforts of government, even the remotest wilderness area will finally be ravaged. It is presumptuous to assert that wilderness areas are far away from human interference by virtue of its dangerous and tough nature condition. Enticed by huge economic profits, people tend to become irrational unimaginably. This can be illustrated by the tragedy of unique type of antelope in China. These rare animals dwell in KeKexili with altitude of 4600 feet where usually is forbidden area for human due to its adverse circumstances and preserves its untouched ecological environment completely for all wild animals. Consequently, KeKeXiLi undoubtedly serves as harbor for these precious antelope. Unfortunately, owing to the hiking price of fur of this animal as product materials in European market, antelope became the most profitable target of illegal hunters. From late 1980s, promoted by enormous profits, millions of thousands of illegal hunters rushed into this original place and massacred large amount of antelopes. In merely few years, the number of antelopes plummeted from over millions to no more than 20 thousand. It is the lack of government's awareness of protection for wilderness areas that these natural treasuries suffered the unscrupulous plunder.
Fortunately, governments of many counties have take preservation of wilderness areas into their consideration which has made noticeable progress. In 1964 United States president- Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the Wilderness Act. The Wilderness Act established desiganated wilderness land as well as millions of additional acres in national parks, national forests, and national wildlife refuges. Similarly, Chinese government has established special institutions - Wild Plants and Animals protection Association which are responsible for protection and management wild areas. Because of the practice of government power, illegal hunting is under rigid control and biological researches on rehabilitating habitats have been carried out successfully. In addition to enact relevant law against environment destruction, it is necessary to emphasize the significance of government's public propaganda which can evoke the consciousness ofenvironment protection of entire nation.
In summary, unless the last of wilderness areas can be guaranteed by governments, the diverse, intact communities of plants, animals, and microorganisms in wild lands would die out. Great natural beauty and the incomparable freedom to explore and enjoy a world that is still uncorrupted by commerce-driven human activities would be bereft forever 这篇文章写得很好,个人认为比较完美,层次分明,语言流畅,例证详细,很好了,赞一个! |
