Scandals-whether in politics, academia, or other areas-can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.

The author asserts that scandals can be useful in many areas, such as politics and acedemia. However, I cannot concede this claim basically for it overlook the possitive effect of scandal.

Undoubtly, it is true that scandal reveal some facts which were hidden deeply so that we will never know though speaker or reformer. Once masses see the truth behind the grace apparent, indignaty and disappointed from the masses will leave the mainactor in trouble. In the famous watergate, Ametican people thought their president was not a honest man and did not believe their country will be more prosperty under such a lier. As a result, this famouse event was ended by Nixson had to give up the president possition. Similarly, the korea scientists, HuangYuxi, who ever was famous for his great attribution in biology—humen stem cell research, was reported that all his research was false. After this, people are questioned about the work of the group which huang was in, even the reputation of his university was damaged. In this matter, scandals help masses see the real facts behind apparent, and figures in scandal would be published for their disgrace actions.

However, people always pay much attention on scandals and it make us confused. It is easily to overemphasize their fault and ingore their contribution. Discussion of the private leader Bill clinton, who had an improper sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky, nearly lost his president possition for his unresponsibility product. However, we must say that America reached new hight in economic duting the presidency of Bill cliton. Let have a look at another great leader, Thomas jefferson, many believe, fathered children by on of his slaves. From the cases above, we cannot ignore these figures btought great contribution to our society even they ever did disgrace products. We can image that if these leaders were forced to give up their leadership for thers scandals, what our society will look like today?

Additionally, sometimes scandals bring about negtive effect that will hurt the public figures. First of all, we should be avoid believing blindly in the reports about these scandals for sometimes it was not true. Media always like dig the privacy things of public figures and annouced them as news. Nontheless, if the media mistakes the facts, it will influece the person in case greatly. Morever, scandals would like to bring considerable press on persons in scandals. Mass media tries to find every corner hid secret, so that the person in case feel they are different from ordinaty people and their lives are under the watch of mass media. Mass media checked their phone records and followed them to watch every life details such as  what they ever talked to, with who they had dinner and so on. it is worthy to mention that some superstars cannot afford such pressure of daily life and chose to suiside at the end. In a word, we should be careful to establish the facts relating to persons in scandals before making any judgements in order to protect the right of public figures.

In summary, I do not recommend scandals can be useful in every areas and everytime, although they distract attention on problems and expose some facts effectively.
