Issue243  第4篇
------题目------
The true value of a civilization is reflected in its artistic creations rather than in its scientific accomplishments.
------正文------
The value of a civilization can be reflected in its artistic creations since artistic creations in a sense represent the spirit and ideology of a civilization, from this aspect, I agree with the speaker. However, to weight which is more important in reflecting the value of a civilization, artistic creations or scientific accomplishments, from my point of view, since the word value can be defined as different means, the conclusion should be different with different situations.

Admittedly, artistic creations as the spiritual creations can surely represent the value of a civilization. In the human history, lots of ancient civilizations are famous for its art accomplishments and known by the world. For instance, the fresco of the ancient Egypt in the pyramids brings the brilliant ancient Egyptian civilization to the earthling. And the ancient China, which created a great deal of art works, from poems to paintings, from architecture to music, all reflect the splendent civilizations in puissant times. The ideology, the belief and the spirit of a people, if defined as the true value of a civilization they created are all showed in the artistic creations.

However, the speaker neglects the similarly brilliant scientific accomplishments in a civilization and the scientific accomplishment is the carrier of the artistic creations. Still take the ancient civilization for example, the pyramids also reflects the highly developed science and technology in Egypt, which makes the world marvel in admiration at the grand project with simplest tools. Put aside the scientific accomplishments reflect the highly developed ancient Egyptian civilization, where could the fresco paint if pyramids cannot be built? The same situation happens in China, all the fancy ancient architecture in China show the exquisite technology and great scientific accomplishments, such as the Great Wall, the Summer Palace and so on. But if the builders cannot build these architectures because of the limitation of scientific and technology conditions, the elegancy will not be showed to the world even if the designer has lots of great artistic ideas. Without these scientific accomplishments, the artistic creations would have no carrier to be realized.

Further, the scientific accomplishments put the great impetus on the civilization, and without these scientific accomplishments, the civilization will not make progress. A civilization which cannot make progress means it will be washed out in the competition of all civilizations, in this case, this recessionary civilization could not have brilliant artistic creations. Considering the mysterious Incan civilization, the lag in the science and technology makes the great civilization and artistic creations disappeared. As far as I am concerned, the premise of that the value of civilization lies on the artistic creations is the civilization must survive, that’s why I disagree undermining the importance of scientific accomplishments.

In sum, the true value of civilization is reflected in its artistic creations as much as its scientific accomplishments. Without either of both, the civilization could not make progress or have its own voice, the two aspects are equivalently important in reflecting the value of a civilization.

Issue243  第4篇
------题目------
The true value of a civilization is reflected in its artistic creations rather than in its scientific accomplishments.
------正文------
The value of a civilization can be reflected in its artistic creations(,) since artistic creations in a sense represent the spirit and ideology of a civilization, from this aspect, I agree with the speaker.(in this sense 和from this aspect 感觉有点重复,一句话里面就用一个吧) However, to weight(好像有个against) which (one)is more important in reflecting the value of a civilization, artistic creations or scientific accomplishments, from my point of view, since the word value can be defined as different means(meaning), the conclusion should(tend to be) be different with different situations.(这句话结构太复杂,不太好,意思不通顺,改成两句最好)
Admittedly, artistic creations as the spiritual creations can surely represent the value of a civilization.[color=Blue](这样的中心句太笼统了吧,因为反映了,所以反映了?给出的原因再具体点) In the human history, lots of ancient civilizations are famous for its art accomplishments and known by the world. For instance, the fresco of the ancient Egypt in the pyramids brings the brilliant ancient Egyptian civilization to the earthling. And the ancient China, which created a great deal of art works, from poems to paintings, from architecture to music, all reflect the splendent civilizations in puissant times. The ideology, the belief and the spirit of a people, if defined as the true value of a civilization they created are all showed in the artistic creations.(把这些创作和你的最后一句话联系起来就好了,因为是反映的civilization, 而不是culture,并不是说有这些艺术品存在就可以反映的,而是艺术品反映的思想和内容吧,这是我的理解

Put aside the scientific accomplishments reflect the highly developed ancient Egyptian civilization, where could the fresco paint if pyramids cannot be built?(有点牵强,画到其他地方也一样啊,一个山洞也可以画的阿,呵呵) The same situation happens in China, all the fancy ancient architecture in China show the exquisite technology and great scientific accomplishments, such as the Great Wall, the Summer Palace and so on. But if the builders cannot build these architectures because of the limitation of scientific and technology conditions, the elegancy will not be showed to the world even if the designer has lots of great artistic ideas. Without these scientific accomplishments, the artistic creations would have no carrier to be realized.(文明应该不是那么狭隘的定义吧,科技只是为了艺术服务吗,从我们祖先穿树叶,到衣服的出现,建筑,等等都是文明的体现吧,最好不要把它局限在艺术上,其实一开始写得挺好的呢,就说建筑是文明的体现也没错阿)
Further,(furthermore) the scientific accomplishments put the great impetus on the civilization, and without these scientific accomplishments, the civilization will not make progress. A civilization which cannot make progress means it will be washed out in the competition of all civilizations, in this case, this recessionary civilization could not have brilliant artistic creations. (用的brilliant 太多了,换个吧illustrious之类的)Considering the mysterious Incan civilization, the lag in the science and technology makes the great civilization and artistic creations disappeared.(Are you sure??) As far as I am(am去掉) concerned, the premise of that(语法错误which) the value of civilization lies on the artistic creations is the civilization must survive, that’s why I disagree undermining the importance of scientific accomplishments.(这句话有问题,因为实在不懂你的意思,也不好帮你改)
这个立意不错,只要保证例子是对的就没问题

In sum,(To sum up) the true value of civilization is reflected in its artistic creations as much as its scientific accomplishments. Without either of both(them,不能用both), the civilization could not make progress or have its own voice, (缺个连词)the two aspects are equivalently important in reflecting the value of a civilization.
语言能力在加强一些,有一点点语法错误,呵呵
其他没什么问题,加油吧!

Issue243  第4篇 让砖头来得更猛烈些吧!
------题目------
The true value of a civilization is reflected in its artistic creations rather than in its scientific accomplishments.
------正文------
The value of a civilization can be reflected in its artistic creations since artistic creations represent the spirit and ideology of a civilization, from this aspect, I agree with the speaker. In fact, to weight which one is more important in reflecting the value of a civilization, artistic creations or scientific accomplishments, from my point of view, since the word value can be defined as different meanings, the conclusion should be different with different situations.

The ideology, the belief and the spirit of a people, if defined as the true value of a civilization they created are all showed in the artistic creations since art is the very object created to express ideology and spirit.

When considering the art works within a certain time, we can find that the art works has developed with corresponding productivity level and scientific accomplishments. Without these scientific accomplishments, the artistic creations would have no relevant carrier to be realized.

Furthermore, the scientific accomplishments put the great impetus on the civilization, and without these scientific accomplishments, the civilization will not make progress. A civilization which cannot make progress means it will be washed out in the competition of all civilizations, in this case, this recessionary civilization could not have gorgeous artistic creations. Considering the mysterious Incan civilization, the lag in the science and technology makes the great civilization and artistic creations disappeared. As far as I am concerned, if the value of civilization lies on the artistic creations, the premise of that is the civilization must survive, that’s why I disagree undermining the importance of scientific accomplishments.

In summary, the true value of civilization is reflected in its artistic creations as much as its scientific accomplishments. Without either of them, the civilization could not make progress or have its own voice, thus the two aspects are equivalently important in reflecting the value of a civilization.
