No doubt, people should have leisure time which belongs to themselves entirely, especially student. Some people consider it should be many times short vacations, but I contradict it. In my opinion, long time vacations is a prerequisite of the field research and mastering a particular skill which is important to students. There are many cases to support this idea. I would present some conspicuous evidence listed as follow.

At present, one of the most important things student should do is the out-of-class field research. Because these things could give students many benefits, such as the experience of live alone. Nevertheless, to do these things must have enough time. For instance, if you want to do a field research in the North African, there must be many steps, planning, preparing, practicing and so forth. Every step would not be ignore and consume five to ten days. therefor, a long vacation is a important prerequisite.

In addition to experience, a particular skill is also a treasure to a student. Because the more skill you have, the more work opportunities you have. However, these skills cannot be mastered in a short time. For example, weiqi, a famous sport in Asia, even if you merely want to control its basis skill, you should practice it two hours a day in two mouths。Because its complex changes and many unchangeable methods should be remembered. If you want to be a good player, you should have more time to practice. In a word, if you want to master the weiqi skill, you should pay a long time vacation.

On the other hand, we cannot deny that the short vacations are also having its own advantages, such as easily controlling and more regular to students. But if we consider the influence of the whole life, we should draw the conclusion that choosing long vacation is more practicable and important.
