The speaker suggests that the students’ questioning and criticizing encouraged by school would do little to promote social harmony. Different people hold different views due to their respective angles. In my opinion, however, I stand at the opposite side of the speaker, supporting that proper questioning and criticizing would bring about development to our society. My view will be confirmed by the following discussion.
To begin with, 有不要出现argu里常有的连词地说!the conception of social harmony should be affirmed. Nowadays, most of people are living in a society advocating freedom, equality and democracy. Hence, the social harmony is nothing but categorical accepting and obeying everything existing in the society including those uncomfortable things. [这句话分开讲,变成从句吧!] Meanwhile, the knowledge is continually extending with the development of technology and other factors, while the situation of society changing. So the absolute harmony is not in existence. As a result, our education should cultivate students’ ability of questioning and criticizing in order to keep peace with the development of the outsides. [不解:harmony and changing are consistent with each other,不矛盾,这样立论不convincing]
In academic field, questioning and criticizing is the main source of creativity, and only through innovation,去掉 could science be pushed forward. If everyone blindly sticks to the convention and authorities, science and even the human being society would not promote. Take example of Bruno, the ancient 这是远古,比如无文字记载的时候,可以用 in 16th century astronomer and physicist. In Bruno’s era, the religious community was in charge of the whole society, and most people believed that the earth was the center of the universe, which seems absurd today. Regardless of a long time imprisonment, Bruno insisted on the affirmation that the universe is infinite based on some rational research. It outraged the religious community and shaked the authority, and Bruno was sentenced to death. [建议不要强调他被囚禁,说他的质疑精神更好] Without the encouragement to questioning and criticizing the obsolete authorities, the truth may still be covered till our times, and the human being may never recognize themselves and the society clearly.
In political area, it [is] equally necessary requires questioning and criticizing to get improvement. Leaders, though possessing outstanding talent, they are still common people after all that may make mistakes or wrong decisions or even sate the personal desire through authority. The notorious Watergate scandal is such an example. If not the questioning of the illegal approach of campaign tactic, the public may not vote the right candidate at their wills, which would bring about lots of social problems and even impair the country as a result. Therefore, every legal citizen has the right to question and criticize the uncomfortable things, in order to make the society more harmony rather than disturb it. [例子不太好,Watergate不是掀起轩然大波吗?即disturb]
However, only criticizing the problems without attempts to solve them should not be encouraged. We can image that everyone just criticizes, and lots of problems are arisen that no one to resolve, and the society would become a chaos rather than harmony. Education should be comprehensive, that not only cultivating the students’ spirits of questioning and criticizing, but also teaching them the ability to solve the problems. The society can truly be harmonious and promoted only after the problems are properly settled not just questioned. [教育本身是,而不是should, In fact, education not only encourages us ..., but also teaches us ...., 小问题啊]
To sum up, questioning and criticizing is crucial in keeping social harmony and promoting society. Education should encourage students to question and criticize, and meanwhile should also elevate their ability of resolving the problems. [结尾和我一样,很短,总结的力度不足]
