TOPIC: ISSUE221 - "The chief benefit of the study of history is to break down the illusion that people in one period of time are significantly different from people who lived at any other time in history."

提纲：①研究人类在不同时期的相似的地方帮助我们解决历史上的共性问题；

②时代在发展，人们的观念改变，出现了些原来没有的问题，研究相似的地方不能很好的帮助我们解决问题，研究不同可以帮助我们预测一些东西；

③历史不能只局限于研究人类的相同或不同，还有其他重要作用。



The purpose of history is to understand human life, collecting and recording facts about the human past and often to discover in the facts patterns of meaning addressed to the enduring questions of human life. Comparing the difference of people in different period of time and finding out the similarity help us know what we are and what we should do in the future.

After hominids evolved to human beings, we don’t change a lot in the respects such as appearance, conformation, even the nature. The study of history enable us to understand the similarity in different time and the study helps us to address the same problem in dissimilar time, accordingly we may deal with them in the same way. Actually, the problems involved the unfairness in society, the war and the replacement are reappearance of the same ones in the past. Although some idiographic matters such as the causation of the war appears diverse, it is the flaws of human's nature that cause them after the study of history. Consequently, studying the similarity and the approach when doing with the same problem is a appropriate method for us to find a effective way when we meet the like ones.

However, with the development of the productivity, means of production and the allocation of the wealth, there exists difference in many aspects including life style, ideology and the values with people in different era. So the study of the difference, at the same time, is substantial. As the technology increasingly develops, some questions which are beyond the imagination emerge in the society. For instance, the population is so large that let the earth carry heavy burdens and the clone results in the technological moral problems.
Considering the standard of a nut, which has an extensive use in industry, should change with the development of technology. Since industrial manufactures' capability become more and more excellent, nuts should cater for the more strict need in mechanics and calorific and merely following the former standard may leads to a worse situation. In the process of development of history, human character is revealed in different types, however, continuously in history according to numerous facts.
The study of the difference is propitious to realize and grasp the regular pattern of the evolution in human’s character. At the same time, people can expect the future with the result of study so that we may avoid some tragedies from happening.

Besides, the study of history has many other influential benefits, not limiting the study of people in different period of time. In term of the culture and custom, people should inherit the essence which is both significant for us and our children and look for the particularity of nation. In term of the knowledge and technology, people should learn and carry forward them. Past achievements illumine our creativity and past lessons prevent us from falling into the similar trap.

From the analysis above, history likes a mirror, reflecting both the merit and the demerit of human beings. Thereby, it is advisable for us to deal with the things nowadays while looking backward.

在网上搜了这篇，大家判定为难题，因为history/ illusion都是抽象的东西。
我自己最初的想法是：不同时期人的确有很大不同，但实质还是相通的，也就是说变化的只是表面。那么什么是实质什么是表面呢？这里我想到一个讲人类交流的事例：人类的通讯工具虽然有了花里胡哨的质的变化，但是其作用仍是传达信息。人类发明创造的先进东西貌似带来了巨大变化，其实人类自己并没有多大变化。
后来看了一位前辈的分析，指出that后面的那句不是重点，只是对illusion的解释，而关键在于history能否break down illusion？这又是否是history study的chief benefit? 我看的issue221分析链接：

现在也认同了，但是去讨论history能否break down illusion，我觉得更抽象，到底能不能呢？一，历史无法完全还原，总有被曲折的地方，因此不一定能真正break down；二，？？？
