130 "How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."

Our society, facing a lot of challenges and persistent problems today, is seeking for a powerful hand to support her. I strongly agree with the speaker that our children are the future of our society. In this matter, it is vital for a country to deal with the problem how to cultivate the next generation. However, it is too hasty to claim that the children are not well raised at our time.
As is concerned, a lot measures have been taken to cultivate children to be useful to the society. And these measures have got a good effect in the society. For instance, the country build up a wholesome and scientific education system, elementary school, high school and university, take account of children’s growing age stage. As a result of this, children can grow up more smoothly and healthily under the school education, taking progress in learning and absorbing basic knowledge step by step. Besides, family education is done by children’s parents. They attempt to do their best to provide all they can to raise their children to be excellent, such as careful treatment, all-sided instructing and provide money for their study. Hence, children are well concerned in the society.
However, except of book education children need another more important guidance in how to live a life. It is very important for children learning to respect statements of others and be positive to communicate with them. For example, a college student who does not like to communicate with others, angrily killed his three roommates just because one of them whom he thought to be his best friend didn’t invite him to his birthday party. When the judge asked him about the reason why he did it, he said that he just only can not bear the angry that moment. We can guess that if they take a chance to talk with each other respectively and positively, express their real thoughts even they would not be the best fiends, this tragedy would not happen anyway. As a result, we could not ignore this point which may determine the destiny of children.
Furthermore, We should encourage the individuality of children, but not pattern them to be of the same model. Each of the successful people we know has his own personality. This unique characteristic plays a important role in their accomplishments. Such as Bill Gates, made his decision to drop out from Harvard, he did not care too much of the result, Many people did not understand why Gates gave up such a good opportunity to study in the world's No.1 University. However, with size comes power, Microsoft dominates the PC market with its operating systems, such as MS-DOS and Windows. Now, Microsoft becomes the biggest software company in the world and Bill Gates becomes the richest man in the world. Sometimes, make a different decision to others means the first step of your own life.
In sum, children should be educated to master enough knowledge include fundamentals from books and some practical social recognition, also without losing their own idiosyncrasy to serve society more effectively. |
