9.26 It is better to broad knowledge of many academic subjects than specialize on one specific subject.
As science and technology advance in modern time, the number of the subjects in different fields increases so rapidly that no one is capable of knowing them all. And then some people may think that it is better to be a specialist in one specific field, while others may argue that expanding knowledge of many academic subjects is more helpful for people. For me, taking all aspects into consideration, to broad knowledge of different academic subjects is much better than to specialize on one specific subject.

To begin with, expanding knowledge of many academic subjects provides more chances for people to obtain more inspirations and gain more achievements. This is because those different fields of knowledge may spark new ideas and thus people can combine knowledge of different academic subjects into a brand-new subject which can contribute to the development of science and technology.

Moreover, having knowledge of different academic subjects, people can easily communicate with the experts of other fields of study and thus it enhances the cooperation among them. For instance, in the information technology industry, we do not only need the knowledge of computer, but also the knowledge of marketing and management. So, for employees have expanded their knowledge in those subjects, they probably have the qualification to acquire higher salaries and positions.

Of course, some people may argue that generalists cannot get to know one specific subject thoroughly. It should be admitted that specialists can have a better understanding of specific subjects. However, the development of science and technology usually need a variety of expertise, skills and knowledge to support. Hence, knowing one specific subject cannot meet the development of society.

In conclusion, although specializing on one specific enables people to have a deep understanding of one subject, expanding knowledge of many academic subjects offers more advantages such as more chances to gain inspirations and achievements and improving interaction and cooperation among different fields. Therefore, I am strongly convinced that expanding knowledge of many academic subjects is better than specializing on one specific subject.
