In the recent years, there is a general controversyover the issue whether it is necessary to understand the past when people wantto solve the problems present and future. Although someone claims that presentis largely diverged from the past, so it is futile to do this work. Personally,I prefer to support that it is helpful to learn from the history and I willprovide concrete evidences to demonstrate my point of view.

First and foremost, through understanding thesituations in the past time, people could better know why we are here today,which is the prerequisite to solve recent problems. It is universallyacknowledged that only when we could find the causes of the particular trouble,can we make the right plan to dissolve it. For instance, when we focused onimproving the condition of air pollution nowadays, the first step for us isabsolutely to know where this problem results from. By comparing from the past,the conclusion is obvious that as the increased number of automobiles, fossilfuels has become the mainly generation power. But the firing of this kind of fuelsbrings a lot of detriments to our environment. Therefore, the solving method isalso very simple, which is definitely reduces the use of fossil fuels ordecrease the number of automobiles. On the one hand, people began to exploitother clean energy to displace the polluted one, on the other hand, governmentstake policy to promote the development of public transportation, which ultimatelyresult in the declined number of personal cars.

In the second place, people could also learn somelessons from the event in the past time, warning them to make the similarmistakes. Take the economy development in China as an example. After thebuild up of this new country, in order to reach the goal of egalitarian, theplanned economy became the economical system to regulate in this nation.However, it is largely limited the activity of individuals. Until the time ofDeng xiao ping, who find the deficiency of the old economy system in China, andproposed his own idea, which is called market economy, inspiring the ability ofeach person to a large degree. So the development of economy in China could resurgentagain and increased leap and bound.

Last but not least, our ancestors also offer us a lotof effective methods to deal with difficulties. For instance, although thewestern medication has become the leading treatment in modern time, the traditionalChinese medicine is also conducive to cure a myriad of diseases.

To sum up, taking into account of the discussionmentioned above, we may safely reach the conclusion that it is wise and reasonableto understand the past, it will benefit us in solving the problems present andfuture.
