The writer contends that only if the study of history is relevant to our daily life, it is valuable. However, I think whether the study of history is relevant to our daily life is not the only standard to measure if it has value. We should consider more standards to measure the value of the study of history.

First of all, studying history is just like the guiding light on our developing road and gives us more suggestions in our daily life. We usually learn much knowledge from the history in the past. For example, China underwent different kinds of management economic policies in its development procedure. From the plan policy to open and reform policy, it is just the study of history that China gets its own proper economic policy, thus Chinese people live a happy life.

Secondly, the value of the study of history not only produces an impact on the present daily life but also on the future. The study of medical advances made in the history can bring about far-reaching influence on the medical advances today and tomorrow. The history of some medical researchers of finding some new medicine which can improve the patients' health may not influence their daily life, however, it will affect many patients' daily life in the future.


Moreover, the study of history is beyond its effect on the daily life. Take the environment protect for instance, we get a lesson from the history and realize that it is necessary to protect our environment. In recent years, there are some movies such as 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow which shows the environment problems in the future if we ignore what we did to the nature. The study of history of how to solve the environment problems may not influence our daily life immediately, but it really has the profound impact on the society development.


From what has been discussed above, we may safely draw the conclusion that the study of history also has value to the extent that it studies the future and the past. Maybe the study of history will not have an immediate influence, but in the future it will play an essential role in the daily life.
