In the set of materials we can know that people read less literature than before in the reading part, which does a series of bad influence. While, in the lecture the professor tells us some opposite information.

To begin with, the professor says that literature does not just refer to novels, plays, and poems that people read less presently. People now like to read science, history, plitical articals which also heve good quality and can enlarge people's imagination. These materials are also belong to literature.

In addition, according to the lecture we can also find the modern culture changes. The music and movie are other kind of culture which also have high standard. So the saying in the reading part that the level of culture has lowered becsuse of the less reading of literature is disproved by the professor.

At last, the professor opposes the statement in the reading that  the talented modern writers may publish fewer works because of the lack of audience. She thinks that the tend of reading less literature is because the modern literature is much harder to read than earlier literature.
