The speaker asserted the importance of practicality and the depreciation of ideals. I do not agree with the speaker for the overlooked importance of ideals, which is of same importance, if not more, in the evolvement of human beings and in their pursuit of self-improvement.

To begin with , to the philosophy extent, living is experiencing, the more profound interaction between human beings and reality leads to better understand of
the rules of market, society, political fields and the world,. Taking a practical point of view, in social, business and political realms contributes to easier success. It is easy to imagine a man working hard and seriously, being realistic in his career, undertaking practical way gains more trust than a man digress from reality. A man working hard and being aware of what the advantages and disadvantages of the business are stays in a better state than a man who picturing the image of success other than anything. A country needs a leader who made practical decisions, which directly improve the level of people's lives more rather than a idealistic leader who overestimate what the country can and cannot afford. The importance of practicality is undeniable.


However, without ideals, the evolvement of human beings, from both physical and spiritual perspectives, will be retarded. Just as a soldier who have not dreamt to be a general remains being a soldier forever, it is the ideal that not only encourage people to pursue their dream, to explore what they remain curious, but also stimulate the development of arts and academy, the ambition to succeed. To academician fields, the curiosity stirs scientists to pursue what they dreamt for and never came true, if were not the imagination of flying is the sky, copying a another man himself, nothing stirs the man to be bound to the chair equipped with dynamite and ignite which push the man upward to sky, nothing stirs a man to study the technology of clone, let alone the approach to the moon through space ship and clone technology. To arts fields, the ambition to create better style and strongly willing to express artists themselves, result in the creation of inspiration. If were not the ardor of beauty, there would not be the first man picking up a brush to paint, let alone in current age, many boosted business such as movie and sculpture. The significance of idealism is also undeniable in many other fields.

Nevertheless, without the help of practicality, ideals cannot bring out best results. Only taking the cooperative way thus can people make the best use of the two synergic factors. Just like in the creation of a building, neither single good looking nor simply appropriate constructs creates a good building, without appropriate arrangement of inner spaces and constructs, the utilization of the function of a building as a space to live in, to work at, is a failure. Without the pursuit of good looking, the stasis of the development of architectural beauty is just in the way. A building can be called as a good one only when its practical and idealistic functions cooperate.

To sum up, no one can deny the importance of practicality, while ideals also play an essential role in the evolvement of human beings. The ideal is the picture hanging in our brain, tantalizing us to fight to achieve the goals, the practical way is a brick, the accumulation of which pave the way leading to success directly.
