Issue 固定题目:
No.50: in order to improve the quality of instruction at colledge and university level ,all fauclty should be required to spend timeworking outside the academic world in professiona relevant to the courses the teach.

Complaints are heard that some teachers at college and university spends all their time researching without knowing anything about the outside world. Students get bored in their classes because they only teach dumb theories but no interesting practical application for these theories at all. Therefore it has been argued that faculty in unversity and college have to spend time working outside their teaching career in some professions concerning their field of study. However, it seems to me more appropriate if they are encouraged but not required to do so.

To begin with, working takes time, which, for full-time professors, may mean unwanted distraction. For instance, an economic professor who has a part-time job as a businessman can find it extremely stressful to handle both his teaching role and the typical busy life for anyone doing business, one full of flights and travels. When he is expected to further his academic research and prepare for his classes, he may end up distracted by numerous commercial negotiations or his subordinates consulting his about whether a certain investment decision should be made. Actually, pursuing two careers at the same time brings about significant pressure to balance. If some teachers fail to do so, the quality of their instructions can be negatively affected by their work outside university.

Furthermore, were such requirement issued, it would be unfair for those who can't spare time or energy to do so. For a female teacher who is meanwhile a mother of four school-age children, for an aged professor who is in a bad health, it is impossible for them to spend time or energy working in another profession. As a consequence, they will have to quit their teaching job in case they are required to do a part-time job. Obviously it is unfair and benefits neither students nor university faculty.

Admittedly, however, working in some profession relevant to what they teach helps faculty in their teaching. When combined with experience of their application in relevant careers, tedious theories in textbooks appeal more to students than their being taught merely in classes. On the other hand, teachers may further their study with practice in real-life where flaws of theories are easily found. Nonetheless, the same benefits can be gained if faculty choose to conduct a social survey, a fieldwork or just to observe their daily life carefully. Therefore, to set a rule is too rigid for through various flexible methods, same effect will be ahieved.

To conclude, it is O.K. that faculty are motivated to attach attention not only to theories they teach but also practice in daily life. But it is not O.K. that they are compulsed to take up a profession simply for improvements in quality of their teaching.

你的语言句式应该是没什么问题了,语言真好啊,词汇也用得很好呢。但是怎么说呢,我感觉就是不太深入,怎么去剖析一个命题深入的问题,而不停留在表面的举反例上,也是我正在考虑的东西。anyway, it is really a good writing!
开心就好!BiG FiSh I do love this team!!
