I agree with the author insofar as that technology actually influences social customs and ethics- a crucial part of our lives. However, mechanics can’t radical change social customs and ethics, a long-established practice considered as unwritten law.

A long segment from the point of view, social tradition, science and technology does have a significant impact. At ancient times, for some natural phenomenon, such as flood, earthquake, are used to think that there is a deity to dominate the universe. Thus, people are usually totem adoration in order to seek a personal safe; in China, some minorities even sacrifice livestock to prey to the Gods bless. With science and technology development, which help us to understand natural phenomena even no longer have similar activities, and can accurately forecast. Obviously, technology actually influence social customs and bring it to oriental which is more scientific and technological.
