ISSUE 50
50 "In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."

为了提高大学的教学质量,所有的教职员工应该去校外参加一些和他们教的课程相关的工作。

Will practices be conducive to teach courses?
Will let all the staff work outside the academic world in professions is beneficial for improving the quality of instruction at the college and university level? Perhaps, to some extent, it will help some teachers promote the quality of the instruction and teaching. But the statement fail to recognize not all the teachers could and should go to participate in the related works.
For the majority of the diversified subjects in every university, practical experience is the only factor which exceeded the importance of learning and understanding the knowledge printed in the textbook. To obtain these experiences, engaging in some related activities will not only contribute students but also teachers. Having a better understanding of what they are talking about in the classroom, could a scholar help students master the essence of a professional technique which will be crucial for latter people after graduated. How could we imagine a professor who have never actually practiced before are capable of teaching the surgery in the classroom? Nor can we imagine an engineer who has never do any design work could do a good instruction work. So it is necessary for many people to actively join the practical work indeed.

However, in some fields, the job, related to academic research, which is available in the society, is merely what the specialists doing in their laboratory every day. Say, software programmers in university, who are actually the professors, have to sustain the task in classroom which is their major work. And it is not alien for them, sponsored by large companies, leading their graduators or doctors to invent and figure out some profitable software beside their lectures. There is by no mean difference between them and the professional software engineers on this point. Even if all of the scholars in the department of computer obeyed this rule and found a job in the labor market, they may not certainly earn anything more. In other words, social practices will not even increase their experiences at all. On the contrary, their excellent academic status may imply their better professional level than non-academic engineers, if they still stay in the college.
And in some theoretical branches, the only knowledge is pure theory that people can not directly realize its practical values. For instances, the Goldbach Conjecture in mathematics, the big bang theory in physics, Astronomy or even some certain branches in biology etc, the scientists whose majors belongs to the examples mentioned above may not find any related job in our society. For some of them, their practical works can probably only be accumulated in laboratory. While for others, especially for those mathematicians, practice is simply congruous to sitting in front of the desk or computers and trying to develop more theorems.
In sum, the effect of taking part in the society depends on the virtue of a subject. It is not necessary for every member of staff to join the so-called practice. More often than not, practice is either worthless or time-wasting.

However, in some fields, the job, related to academic research, which is available in the society, is merely what the specialists doing in their laboratory every day. Say, software programmers in university, who are actually the professors, have to sustain the tasks in classroom which are their major works(是不是该用复数呀). And it is not alien for them, sponsored by large companies, leading their graduates or doctors to invent and figure out some profitable software beside their lectures. There is no difference by any mean(待商议) between them and the professional software engineers on this point. (
感觉这句话有点别扭,imply ”express or state indirectly” ,不能仅仅“state”promote On the contrary, if they stay in the college and focus on their researches, they may promote their professional level which is their advantage compare to non-academic engineers.)

And in some theoretical branches, the only knowledge is pure theory that people can not directly realize its practical values. 相当好,全篇用词恰当,语句多变,
espeically in the third paragraph , the author's opinion is insightful and novel. The process of angring is also poweful.

Nevertheless, for some people, the only job which is related to their class, is no more than what they are busy with everyday. Those professors whose majors are linked with some profitable research, say, softeware programme,  are often working their jobs outside classroom. It is not alien for them getting the investment from those giant companys to develop some lucrative invention.  Hardly can we fetch any distinctiveness betweem their  researches in the university and in laboratory belonged to the corporation. Anyway,  non-academic engineers, like their colleagues in the university,   have the similar work to finish everyday. So even if all of the scholars in the department of computer obeyed this rule and found their positions in firms,  no greater progress could they attain in the business work than in their school work. On the contrary, if they stay in the college and focus on their researches, they, with more and more academic experience, may promote their professional level which is their advantage compare to non-academic engineers.
