50"In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."
words:498

The pace of technological advancement, social changes and academic progress is so quick that knowledge contained in recently published textbooks often lags current developments. Thus, it is not sufficient that only provide knowledge from textbooks to students to adapt the society and faculty need to go properly into the non-academic world relevant to their professions, getting more excess experience and knowledge to improve the quantity of education.
Given the quantity of teaching, I think that practical working experience outside the special academic world will improve the faculty's understanding of the courses they teach. Most people share the belief that the quality of education imparted there is the reason that sets some universities apart from others. A university with a well stocked library is not sufficient to produce professional high-savvy students. The faculty must have the efficacy to be able to train their students, in accordance with their profession. This is possible only when the teachers themselves do some research and training on their subject outside the class-room premises. This will not only broaden the thinking of the faculty, but at the same time will enable them to imprat more efficient knowledge to the subject, with relevance to current trends. Faculty must be trained outside their classrooms in their respective subjects if they want to impart efficient and efficacious knowledge. Indeed, the non-academic work relevant to their major provide a opportunity and stage for the faculty to apply theory into practice, and then perfect the education system further.
On the other hand, working experience in relevant professions puts college faculty in a better position to help students adjust from campus to the job market. In today's world, education imparted within the class-room premises is not enough for the students' survival in their particular profession. Staff inexperienced in the real-life situations of the subject they teach, impart nothing but text book contents to their students. It is very obvious that this method is not only inefficient, but it is simply not enough in today's highly demanding world. Moreover, in the subject concerned. Teachers with no professional experience simply pass on the information that they have learnt from their predecessors and books that they might have read. Nevertheless that this is important, it is not sufficient for the students to realize their subjects in the professional world. Furthermore, the experience of the real profession in the society will help students programme their own careers.
However, going too far is as bad as not going far enough, meaning redundant outside work may do harm to instruction. Teachers should spend much time on excess works outside the accadmic domain, which means that the time and energy spent on their major academic reseach would decrese accordingly. As a result, the quanlity of the insturction will fall down rather than improve.
As I mentioned in the first paragragh, the faculty should be required to spend some time working outside of their majors on the basis of that their own academic works can not be disturbed.
