The speaker asserts that if a goal is worthy, then any means taken to attain it is justifiable. From where I stand, I concede it to some extent, that if the goal is worthy, then we should try our best to achieve it, however, the author unnecessarily extends this broad assertion to an irreversible extreme. On balance, my points of agreement and contention with the author involve the fundamental and deep analysis as discussed below.

Admittedly, sparing no effort so as to reach a goal is not only sound, but also deserves praise. As for the whole society, just imagine what the world will be like without hardworking scientists, there would be no breakthroughs in science and technology. Without the planning of politicians, there would be no general welfares 普遍福利. Without the pursuing of interests by entrepreneurs, there would be no steady progress in economy. When it comes to persons, there are a myriad of examples pursuing their dreams overcoming hardships and succeed in the end. Looking back, Napoleon often failed in wars in the beginning, once he was retrieved to a shabby house where he saw a spider persisted in waving the nets though consistently broken by winds. He was ignited by the perseverance that such a small creature owned, and recovered faith in victory. In the history of science, Nobel nearly forfeited his life for the sake of inventing detonator. Take my neighbourhood as an example, who suffered from a commercial fraud (商业欺诈)and nearly went bankrupt. He did not give up,instead, he managed his business more carefully, he now owns a large property including several supermarkets and cell phone shops. From this perspective we can see most of time it is right that we strive for the best.

Notwithstanding the importance to reach a worthy goal, we cannot ignore that achieving a goal using illegal ways is not appropriate. Everything should be implemented within the range of law, ethics and morals. Excessive means should not be advocated. It could not be confessed that people's goals differ and may have conflicts. If one deems one goal is worthy and use uncommon means to reach it, then that may lead to disasters for the whole society. One's goal should not be at the cost of infringing other's interests侵害他人利益. For example, Hitler wanted to establish a powerful German, but facilitated all means including the policy of extermination of (灭绝)Jews, which brought countless miseries to worldwide people. Another example is cut-throat competition恶性竞争 in business, in order to attract more consumers, merchants lower their prices to a standard that is below the market price, thus disrupting the normal order of market. In politics, two candidates may denigrate each other.
In science and research, there are professors stealing other's outcomes. There is no doubt that these measures will harm the other's interests.

In sum, from what has been discussed above, if one perceives aim worthy of endeavor, he or she should not ignore the interests of the majority of society.
