In the process of education, meeting the every students' need and interests can undoubtedly promote education effective. Because of individual differences, every students may have different levels of cognitive development, different talents, different interests, and different needs, it hardly exists one type of education that is suitable for every students. However, education that is specially designed to meet the individuals need and interests of each student is unnecessary and sufficient condition of realizing education effective. There are other factors that facilitate education effective, such as state policy, teacher quality and so on.
Interest is the best teacher, Albert Einstein ever said. Interest can promote student's motivation of learning, which could make student keep long time attention on the learning content which may be not interesting. For example, if one student is interested in American culture, although he or she does not like to learn English, the interest may arouse big motivation to study English. In fact, by my side, many students who learn English every well are always interested in American, England, or other Englishspeaking countries' culture. Besidea, in support of big interest, vanpidity content of the average sees becomes interesting. For example, when a journalist ask ChenNing Franklin Yang, a Noble Prize winner in physics, how does he persist in boring physics study, Yang asks in surprise why it is boring? Because of interest, physics bothered so many students becomes pleasing in Yang's eyes.
Education content and methods which are suited to individual students are really effective. Because of gene, early education, and other factors, according to teachers I contacted, differences among students are big , it hardly exists one kind of education content or method that is suitable for all the students. For example, on basis of psychology study, some students' personality belong to field dependent style, others are field independent style. The former students need teacher guide them to learn new knowledge. With the help of teacher, their knowledge system could be built sooner than the latter , but the latter students can study well by themselves, teacher's guidance may disturb their own structure.
From the example above, we can see that students' needs may be contradictory in some cases. Education can not satisfy one group of students, but meet all the students' needs and interests. Consequently, education need other factors to facilitate its effect in practice, such as high quality teacher, government financial investment and so on. One teacher with high quality could understand students' needs and interests by observing, and have ability to balance different needs in one class by giving different reaction on the basis of student characteristics , allotting time properly of one class. Education also need money to develop in terms of studying, provide advanced teaching equipment, helping poor students. Without satisfying these factors, it is hardly to believe in that education will be truly effective.
In sum, meeting individual needs and interests of each students could promote education effective, but it can not take effect without other factors mentioned above, so it is unreasonable to ignore those factors that also play an important role in education. |
