In the argument, the speaker advised people not to purchase Cold-Away. In comparision of Cold-Away and Coldex, firstly the speaker states two unwanted side effect of them. Apparently, Cold-Away only can cause drowsiness which should be light than the affection of existing high blood pressure caused by Coldex. Additionally, the speaker take into account the longer time of Cold-Away on the market and also the use in the hospital. However, the evidence provided seams not persuasive at all.
First of all, and the most doubtful fact, is that the speaker suggest us Cold-Away should be more effective than Coldex; yet there is not any evidence which can document the fact above. The speaker just states the unwanted side effect, how they goes on the market and hospital, which have little relative to the effect of the two medications.
Secondly, the unwanted side effect of Coldex and Cold-Away make us a misleading that Cold-Away can only cause drowsiness, therefore Cold-Away seams better in this perspective. However, I have to inspect the speaker’s side view since there indeed exist two sides that each brand is accusing the other as the speaker cite above. It is far likely that the speaker is actually the employee of Cold-Away; as a result, he or she surely state only a bit of unwanted side effect of Cold-Away.
Furthermore, the fact that Cold-Away has been on the market for much longer does not mean Cold-Away is better used. It is entirely possible that the newer product, Coldex, which is made through higher technology, takes better effect on the patients. The market of medications alters so fast with the high-tech that it is natural for a new medication more advanced than the older ones. But the speaker fails to show us the effectives of the two medications, thus we can acquire nothing from the time length of the two medications on the market.
Finally, since the two kinds of medications are purchased without a doctor’s prescription, whether be used by more hospitals makes no sense. It is possible that contributed the well going on the market, Cold-Away provides cheaper medications to the hospital and so on, thus it becomes popular in the hospital.
In summary, only by citing those facts that are little correlative to the number one priority of the medicine, the speaker’s argument seams too weak. That is,without the evidence of the medical effective, we can not conclude Cold-Away should be better than Coldex.
