"Because of television and worldwide computer connections, people can now become familiar with a great many places that they have never visited. As a result, tourism will soon become obsolete."

The technology of internet and television is fast developing, which make possible acknowledging those places to which people have never been.  As a result, is tourism becoming obsolete now?  Will the descendants of us never enjoy traveling?  In my opinion, it is true that the technology make "trips" easier and less costly, however, the real tourism does not seem to be extinct.

First of all, the virtue tourism is benefit in some ways.  The total rely on television and computer will cost less and make traveling more comfortable.  It is quite convenient and comfortable to sit before the computers or televisions to catch adequate information, including introductions, pictures and even short movies, about the places we are long for, drinking coffee at the same time.  The discomfort during the traveling time and the unadaptation to a remote place is replaced.

Secondly, traveling usually has some limits for certain kinds of people and some certain places.  Some people regard the far away places as imaginary and illusionary before the appearance of television and internet.  For example, those who have hypertension and heart diseases are restricted to the places such as high mountains, where air is tenuous.  Moreover, some places are also banned to most people because of some disasters or natural limitations.  An obvious and resent example is the case of Southeast Asia where had tsunami not long before.  But people at that time can still view and enjoy the beautiful scenery through internet.

Furthermore, the not actual traveling protects the area to some extent.  Sometimes the open of natural remotes or historic interests is also the open to disturbance to the ecosystem and damage to the relics.  For instance, people tend to leave some trash or unwelcome creatures in the natural sites, or carve their names on the wall of palace.  Also the development of these places dose harm.

However, the tourism will never be out of the stage of history and forgot by our descendants.  The process of traveling is a kind of exploration full of challenge and excitement, which cannot be achieved by only watching the screens and listening the commentaries.  Traveling sometimes also means another pleasant kind of exercises.  During the trips, fresh air, fine sunshine and beautiful sea are always available, which modern people, who sit too long a time in front of the computers, usually lack.  Besides a form of exploration and exercise, traveling is composed of self-experiences, activities containing talking with local people, conforming to local custom and tasting local food, which are just described and depicted on websites or through television.

In conclusion, television and computer connections have contributed a lot to the development of traveling and made convenience and possibility to the places which are remote or inaccessible, at the same time, protect the places from being influenced by human.  However, the mere rely on them will also clear up the fun and pleasant of the first contacting with the places, and making possible friends during the trips.  Thus, while we support the virtue kind of traveling, we are not expected to eliminate the traditional form of traveling.
