------题目------
Statistics collected from dentists indicate that three times more men than women faint while visiting the dentist. This evidence suggests that men are more likely to be distressed about having dental work done than women are. Thus, dentists who advertise to attract patients should target the male consumer and emphasize both the effectiveness of their anesthetic techniques and the sensitivity of their staff to nervous or suffering patients.
------正文------
In this argument, the arguer does not fairly evaluate why men faint more times than women when they visit a dentist and groundlessly suggest the dentist to target on the male patients and emphasize on their anesthetic techniques and sensitivity of their staff to nervous or suffering patients when they are making an advertisement.

To begin with, the arguer provide no information to ensure that men faint three times more than women while visiting the dentist due to they are more likely to be distressed. There may be other reasons that cause the more times of faint. It is possible that the hospital where the survey was conducted is extremely hot and wet, male patients faint more because they are less likely to stand hot and wet environment. And maybe it is the unpleasant noise made by the doctors' drills makes the male patients faint more, which suggest that male patients are more sensitive to noise. Without precluding this kind of situation, the arguer cannot make me believe it is distress that causes the male patients faint more times. So, it is reasonable for the arguer to suggest the advertisement emphasis on the dentists' anesthetic techniques and the sensitivity of their staff to nervous or suffering patients.

In addition, admitting that the more times of fainting in male patients actually caused by distress, we cannot jump to the conclusion that men are more likely to be distressed about having dental work done than women are. Faint is just one of the symptoms of distress. It is possible that women patients cry out or scream before they faint. Crying and screaming release part of their pain and make them less likely to faint. While, the male patients just stand the pain until they faint. In that case, the conclusion that men are more likely to be distressed than women can not be drawn.

What is more, even if men truly feel more distressed than women when they visit the dentists, it is baseless of the arguer to assert that when the dentists are making advertisements they should solely focus on male consumers. No evidence shows that the number of women surpasses the number of man in the overall population. And even assuming there are more men, we cannot say for sure that more men suffer more teeth problem than women. Targeting exclusively on male patients would probably attract more male patients, but it is equally possible that the dentists may take the risk of losing female patients.

Last but not the least, it is irresponsible for the arguer to advise the dentists only to emphasize their anesthetic techniques and the sensitivity of their staff to nervous or suffering patients. There are many other factors that may affect a patients’ choice, such as, the technical skills, the environment of the hospital, the service, as well as the price.

All in all, this argument is not well reasoned as it stands. In order to strengthen it more information should be provided about the patients and more aspects that may attract the patients should be take into account.
