Does one field of study not advance significantly without outsiders’ knowledge and experience? Although I concede that the experts and other factors in the field indeed contribute to the study of this field, the fact that more and more brim sciences and the innovation as result of combination of many different fields appear nowadays makes me convincing that more and more advance of fields need the outsiders. In many field like biology, archeology computer science, we can see this point clearly.

We cannot deny the role of the experts in specific field. Their expertise and experience can advance the study of their field greatly. They know their study clearly and comprehensively than outsiders in the other fields while the outsiders might tend to learn the related knowledge about field and get into the door of the field after a long time. Besides, the previous success and financial support on the study is also useful for the field’s advance. However, the knowledge of many fields is connected with each other and makes a great effect if they are applied together.

In the biology, many breakthroughs might depend on the outsiders of other science fields. For instance, throughout the history of biology, DNA might be one of most significant advance. How it is successfully found and described? The success might be the two scientists from different fields who win the Nobel Prize for this advance. One is the American famous biographer James Watson. And another indispensable person is the English physicist Francis Crick. Crick is an outsider for this field, who earn a DR degree of physics. He seldom read some famous works in this unfamiliar field and even didn’t think that he will earn a great merit in this field before work together with Watson. But as the book of the Watson says, there will be such fascinating discovery without this English guy and his knowledge in physics which Watson lacks.

Consider the archeology. The whole process of the master pieces covered underground for thousands of years obtaining their real values in the society might contribute to many outsiders rather than only the archeologists. After the archeologists' effort to discover from some obsolete places, the most of rest of work might be left to the geologists, chemists and even linguists. The geologist's task is to locate the place where antiques were unearthed and make a judgment about where these antiques were produced many years ago. The process also need chemists to do experiments on the all related things including the body of people and tell us how long the antiques have stayed in the place in which we find out them. The linguists can provide the evidences about the meaning of those things written on the walls.

Aside from these fields, the computer science is product of many outsiders of other fields in which mathematics and electronics might be the most important ones. The computer's surprising ability of ever-increasing high speed on the calculation is due to the effort of the mathematicians.  And the electronics play a indispensable role in the transmission of signal and data and almost every part of the computer like CPU. Without these outsider, the computer and related byproducts like software and Internet are not so helpful and widespread popular all over the world that people cannot live and work without them.  

In conclusion, without the outsider bringing their expertise and experience to one field, the study of the field will not advance so rapidly and significantly. However we cannot overlook the role of the specialists in the field. Combination of the force of two sides can give us more surprising result in the advance of most fields.
