When Ida McAllister ran for mayor of Lake City four years ago, she failed to win even 30 percent of the vote. But since then, McAllister has made public her commitment to environmental causes. She would be wise, therefore, to announce her intention to close all Lake City parks to automobile traffic, thus following the example of the former mayor of Plainsville, Alecia Yu . On the recommendation of a small group of concerned citizens, Mayor Yu prohibited automobile traffic in all Plainsville parks, and therefore was credited with solving the pollution problem and improving the quality of life in Plainsville. This action would have great appeal to the citizens of Lake City, most of whom participate in the community's recycling program, and would guarantee McAllister's success in her current quest to be Lake City's new mayor.

Close scrutiny of each of these factors, however, reveals that none of them lends credible support of this recommendation.

To begin with, this argument takes the former mayor of Plainsville as an example of the success of dealing with the environmental problems by  prohibiting automobile traffic in all parks. Yet, we are not informed that by doing this whether she did contributions to the city. Given that the situation of pollution had got better,it is entirely possible that the economy are shrinking and the life are not so convenient as it is before.

Moreover, there are not two same leaves in the world. It is the same between Plainsville and Lake City. There might be a myriad of differences between these two citsies. Perhaps the customs of the people living in them are different,or perhaps the nature circumstances around are totally different. Lacking more details about the conditions of these two cities, it is too presumpous to say that IMA can get the good result she expected in contributing to the city.

Given that the two problems above are not existing, these is still one more question. Although IMA had solve the problem of pollution and did great contributions, it is equally possible that she cannot be successful in the election. Perhaps the people in the city perfer the mayor who can do more things in changing the economy situation than that who spends time on the pollution.Without ruling out other possible standards in election, the argument cannot be convincing to claim that IMA will be success.

In conclusion, the argument cannot substantiate the assertion on the basis of these scant evidence provided. To validate this recommendation, the author should provide more convincing evidence about the overall statistics about the two cities as well as the most important point in the voters' minds.
