        Who have the qualification to decide the greatness of individuals, their contemporaries or their latter generations? Since the greatness of individuals is measured by his or her contributions to his contemporaries and his latter generations, in my opnion, both of them have the qualification to decide the greatness of individuals. Moreover, the judgement of the contemporaries is supportative and the comment of the latter generations may be more complete, rational and justice.
         Admittedly, the one who makes a direct contribution to the world at his time is likely to get the support of his contemporaries. By enjoying the benefits that brought out by a person, the people  appreciate and praise him, and on the contrary, by suffering from the disaster induced by a person, the people may hate and accuse him. Undoubtedly, to those whose behaviors have a direct and immediate impact on the world, his contemporaries have the qualification to judge him. Furthermore, in some of situation, the judgement is proper or at least partly right. And without the judgement of his or her contemporaries, a person may find he is lack of support when he involve himself in benefiting the world, or in other situations, are free to do any actions  which damage others' benefits. For example, a mayor in our city once operated a constructure program in our city and the program needs a large amount of money. At begining, the program is confronted with many barriers such as the lack of money and the environmental problems. However, when the benefits of the program are recognized and the effort of the mayor are confirmed by the citizens, the program are finally executed.
         However, in another aspect, the contemporary judgment may be limited and even completely wrong, because sometimes the cognitive ablitity of the contempories maybe too weak to evaluate the contributions of the individuals, especially those who are at the frontier of science. Einstein, as we all know, holding his most decisive and important contribution to the world-- the Theory of Relativity, which could only be understood by few people at him time, is less likely to earn any fair and proper judgement from his contempories. And some pioneers in literature and arts, who make their works ahead of time, are also infamous in their contempories. Only when the latter generations comprehend the essence of the theory of relativity and find some proof to certificate it, the greatness of Einstein could be completely interpreted. In the same cause, the greatness of the pioneers in arts and literatures couldn't be recognized until people have the sufficient aesthetic knowledge and cultivation to recognize it. So, to some extend, to those who establish the idea ahead of time, it is more fair for their latter generations to judge their greatness.
         In addition, Those who have earned a affirmative judgement by their contemporaries may be denied by their latter generations. As a example, when  Hitler established his autarchy in Germany, his fooled and deceived the majority  of the germen to earn their support. However, after the Germany was defeated after the world war, the survival germen began to reflect the behavior of him and finally drawed a different judgement of him. So, the judgement of a greatness of individuals by the latter generations could help to break some existent illusion of some events and bring out the original performance of history.
          In sum, after the discussion above, we could find that both the judgement of the contemporaries and the latter generations are necessary. The former gives the real-time response to the individuals, and the latter, instead, provide a rational and complete judgement of the individuals and correct the mistakes of the former. History, which is composed of the greatness of individuals, swamps between the two kind of judgements to find its balance.
