The speaker maintains that looking back of the past provides little use for the people who living in the present. I disagree with the speaker, in my opinion, understanding of past would bring us necessary help in our daily life.

Admittedly, some real instruments are truly useless in current society. I agree with the speaker insofar that compare to the old ages, people makes lots of over fly, and nowadays are more advanced and complex, which the ancients could not imaging. Frankly speaking, some tools are no use to the people who live in current society. For instance, telegraph had ever made effective result on military and between different governments, but it has already been never used in our daily life, on the contrary, telephone makes every people closer than before. Nevertheless, even though, past life has still provides beneficial to the later generations.

However, the most important guidance that investigating past teaches us is not to re-act the historical tragedy again now. The Second War made people suffers grievously with violence and poverty; the pollution of environment leads to the distinction of some type of birds. When we looking back and making conclusion to the past history, people would not make the same mistakes the past warned us. Only that, people could plan their future and make it ever proud.

Moreover, we cannot only get benefit from warning, but also the progresses and basis of theories in science and creation. The one who lives in the present, whether scientists, doctors, and litterateurs, could gain progresses from the thinking method and theories that ancestors left behind to us. Step on the giant could make more successes. Newtonian Three laws of mechanics and the Universal Gravitation were built up on the basis of Kepler, Galileo, Copernicus and Bruno. So, as the instances show us, looking past endows us chances to make more progresses.

In addition, thinking back of the past, it also inherits some old habits of custom and moral religion tile to this day. In China, people always eating Rice dumpling to remember the poet " Qu Yuan" in dragon boat festival, and the All Saint's Day in American also testify the inherit custom from past. Such inherit of custom and moral religion could make later generation never forget the ancestors, and remember the good spirits in their heart and tell the generation after them to come down the specific custom and moral.  

To sum up, looking back could profit later generations from several aspects such as history tragedy, human progresses in science, and inheriting of custom and moral religion. We can distillate the useful things from our ancestors, and make an even perfect future for our afterworld.
