Which one is more important in people’ daily learning, reading books or watching Tv? Any extreme answer to this question should be improper, and basically I agree that reading books plays the same vital part as watching Tv does in the age of television.

Admittedly, television, as a popular modern entertainment way, has acted as an important role in people’ life. It can not only provide us vivid and lively pictures or figures but also report punctual and precise events taking place at the spot whether nationwide or local. On the one hand, it is no denying that most people have ever been impressed by the gongfu section in television and absorbed by affecting sitcom. Just through such splendid image and so impressive scenarios in Tv can our heart beat with the hero or heroine when they are happiness or sorrow. On the other hand, Tv is so convenient and practical that people learn the latest news or sports match mainly depending it. For example, people can acquire the latest development of the news through Tv transmitting such as Indian ocean tsunami. Television devotes intense and nervous matches to the world people during Olympic games. If there is no television, it is regretful that only present audience can watch Olympic games. Consequently, people can not overlook the importance of watching television in process of learning knowledge.

There is no denying that reading books exerts the same considerable role in people’s study. On the one aspect, reading books enable people to put in such a wide and infinite field where we can exhibit our potential and extraordinary imagination, while it is not accessible through watching television. Most people have ever experienced the spiritual joviality from those works written by famous literature master. Many teleplays adapted from books, more often than not, receive condemnation or dispute from spectators mainly because the director does not comply with the original works, which some scenarios in teleplays have been omitted or weakened than those do in books. While through reading books, people are no doubt to image myriads of possibilities of the stories. On the other aspect, reading books are little limited by the times, spots, circumstances, etc. We can read books despite of day or night, whether in the city or in the countryside. On the contrary, many limits are placed on us including: first, television programs restricted by Tv station; second, television channels are so short that it is hard to satisfy us; third, television set is still expensive to certain remote village and people can not afford it. In a word, television doe not play always the same important role as reading books, in contrast, reading books to some extent exert vital part in people’s learning based on what has discussed above.

To sum up, as the proverb says,” there are two sides in one coin.” Television and books are not exclusive. Television can offset books’ poor vitality and books inject imagination to television. They are not repulsive each other, while are compatible and improvement to the effect of learning.
