TOPIC: ISSUE138 - "Only through mistakes can there be discovery or progress."

I agree with the speaker's broad assertion that during the process of getting discovery and progress, mistakes plays a critical role to help us. However, the speaker unnecessarily overestimates the effect of mistakes, while overlooking other aspects in the study and research. On balance, I tend to agree that the mistakes, be it very critical during our discovering and processing, not the only factor that boost the progress.

Making progress and discovery via mistakes is necessary, for the reason that mistake can tell us what is wrong, which will guide us to the right direction. An aptly illustration on this point is the procedure of computer programming. The first edition of software is almost full of bugs and mistakes, even for the popular used software such as Windows and Office, however, the released vision that users could buy is nearly a perfect one. The improvement from full of bugs to nearly perfect is due to the efforts of lots of debuggers and pre-users who test all possible and trying to find mistakes in the program then help the programmers to correct them. In large extent, the more mistakes they found before the software releasing, the more perfect will be the software. Finding mistakes makes things to be perfect.

Since mistakes are unavoidable, trying to avoid them may prevent us from innovating and taking risks. As the head of Electronics at my university once said when we are preparing for an experiment," What you should do is to think and try. No matter what you make it wrong, I will help you to make it right, and then, you can try again!" What he want to convey to us is that if there is not any mistakes or exceptional things, it means that we learn no more from the experiment than from the book, which makes the experiment meaningless. And only by making mistakes and correcting them, we can get the experience that beyond the book, which will become the inexhaustible source of innovation.

Besides mistakes, we can not overlook other factors that help us, such as advises from other fields’ experts, the communication among our workmates and people who hold contradictive views with us. As we illustrated above, the primary thing to utilize mistakes is to correct them, and the purpose we valued mistake is not for other more mistakes but to achieve success. Only by critical thinking, communicate with others and consider others’ advice, we can correct mistakes and get progress.

Having variable values and inconsistent values, people may never arrive at the same conclusion on this controversial issue. All the evidence discussed in the above analysis confirm my points of view that the mistake is a critical factor to get discovery and progress, but other factors interrelated with mistakes make the essential motif of development.

I agree with the speaker's broad(学到一个蛮生动的词) assertion that during the process of getting discovery and progress, mistakes plays a critical role to help us. However, the speaker unnecessarily overestimates the effect of mistakes, while overlooking other aspects in the study and research. On balance, I tend to agree that the mistakes, be it very critical觉得再用这个词怪怪的~~) during our discovering and processing, not the only factor that boost the progress.//开头貌似开门见山,却又拐了两个弯~~很明了!
The improvement from full of bugs to nearly perfect is due to the efforts of lots of debuggers and pre-users who test all possible 呵呵)and trying to find mistakes in the program then help the programmers to correct them.(这句不太通) In large extent, the more mistakes they found before the software releasingbeing released), the more perfect will be the software. Finding mistakes makes things to be perfect.//这段挺好,很充分,例子不老套却挺有代表性哦!!
呵呵)Since mistakes are unavoidable, trying to avoid them may prevent us from innovating and taking risks. As the head of Electronics at my university once said when we are preparing for an experiment," What you should do is to think and try. No matter what you make it wrong(这句也不通), I will help you to make it right, and then, you can try again!" What he want to convey to us is that if there is not any mistakes or exceptional things, it means that we learn no more from the experiment than from the book, which makes the experiment meaningless. And only by making mistakes and correcting them, we can 是不是该倒装为can we?)get the experience that beyond the book, which will become the inexhaustible source of innovation.//称赞ing~~,很方便生动的生活中例子!!

Only by critical thinking, communicate ,communicating)with others and considering others’ advice, we can correct mistakes and get progress.//次小结?
Having variable values and inconsistent values, people may never arrive at the same conclusion on this controversial issue. All the evidence discussed in the above analysis confirm my points of view that the mistake is a critical factor to get discovery and progress, but other factors interrelated with mistakes make the essential motif of development.

An aptly illustration on this point is the procedure of computer programming. The first edition of software is almost full of bugs and mistakes, even for the popular used software such as Windows and Office, however, the released vision that users could buy is nearly a perfect one. The improvement from full of bugs to nearly perfect is due to the efforts of lots of debuggers and pre-users who test all possible and trying to find mistakes in the program then help the programmers to correct them In large extent, the more mistakes they found before the software releasing(being released), the more perfect will be the software. Finding mistakes makes things to be perfect.

And only by making mistakes and correcting them, we can get the experience that beyond the book, which will become the inexhaustible source of innovation

不好意思,那个make it wrong/right,是我孤陋寡闻了,:L呵呵~~
