In modern world, we are no longer strange about the scandal, which reveals some problems and focuses on a certain person or a group. As concerned to scandal, some claim that it is useful, for it focuses public attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could, while I partly agree with it. I believe that scandal has some advantages as to uncover the problems and be a ideal supervise, meanwhile some drawbacks should not be ignored, that it is adverse to society by leading to a distrust atitude toward public figures                                       or institutions, and a tool to attain evil goals, thus we should hold a reasonable  point of view on scandal.

As a threshold matter of fact, scandal does have some utilities of bright side, such as it exposes some problems and unjust deal and plays a role of overseer in politics, academia and any areas. Such examples are not rare, the scandal of soccer game in Italy presents the dishonest activity to grease referees and win games, which is damage to the orders and well development of soccer field. In that way, scandal could play a role as a just and disinterested supervise to keep the order and just in any areas of games, so does the activities in policy, academy and other areas. Thus, scandal is useful and helpful in social affairs.

However, too much attention on scandal is unnecessary and will cause nonconfidence toward politics and academia, which is disadvantageous to the function and development of such areas, especially in the sphere of politics and academia. In politics, if people over concentrate on a leader's scandal, which is usually the dark side of the individual, and therefore tend to distrust him/her, resulting in his/her fame will decline and his/her policy will less advocated, even they are beneficial to society. As far as concerned to academia, scandals may draw people tend to suspect the authenticity of a person or a theory, which make he/her difficult to continue study or put the result of study into practice. As a result, too much scandal will destruct the well order and advancement of society and science, so that it is wise to control the influence of scandal under certain level.

Moreover, such possibility that some untrue scandals will spring out as a mean to defame and harm certain person or group for evil aim. For one hand, according to the dark side of influence by scandal on individual and groups, scandal is possible be a expect tool to achieve some evil goal, such as to defame a person and beat he/her in voting or in a high-profile prize, such as Nobel Prize. For the other hand, scandal is an ideal opportunity for media to attract audience and make good money, and for the sake, some "scandal" is created or magnified deliberated, ascribing the disturbance and dispraise to victims. Therefore, people should keep an clear mind and a reasonable attitude to scandals, rather than simply trust and follow it.

To sum up, according to what had been discussed above, a conclusion could be drawn safely that though scandal possesses some goodness to reveal problems and oversee politics, academia and other areas, it has some weakness accompanied that it will arouse nonconfidence toward politics, academia and other areas, and some scandal will be deliberatedly or undeliberatedly made to harm individual or group. Thus, publics should hold a reasonable point of view of scandals and make good use of them.

Scandals, the by-product of modern multimedia, which play the role of mirror to reflect the truth of the society, bear the responsibility to influence the younger generations and impart the public with hidden ideas and impulse of the society. I strongly agree with the author' statement here with respect to scandals' function and meaning. My case-by-case analysis could be concerned in following aspects.

Firstly, the emergence of scandals represents the development of a society. In any nation, no matter which kind of democratic structure it hold, the demos are striving to work aim at a cohesive and justifiable society. In any community or society, people used to entitle their most reliable person to manage the leadership or mainstream in the field of politics, academia, or other areas. Due to impossibility of get in touch with the true life of those celebrities, the evidence of whether their leadership are convincing or not might not be conveyed by speakers or reformers, but scandals. Take the famous event of 'WaterGate' and Nixon for example; it is the expectation of whole demos to possess a honest and pure-hearted leader which drives the scandals to be exposed and forces Nixon to be impeached. As an old saying goes; the aim of demos is the initial and final purpose of a leader. On no account of this principle, the leader would never be satisfying and supported. In another word, the exposure of scandals is the right performance which attains the expectation of public.

Secondly, scandals, though bring some celebrities with ungraceful reputation, do help establish a well-informed and honesty circumstance of a society. Every one pays attention to his/her reputation, as well as those celebrities. Once their misdeeds are publicized and reprobated in public, the scandals are formed and immediately spread. Obviously, the peace breakers who are the leading roles of the scandals would be doomed to be punished. The misdeeds of Hwang Woo-suk would be the case in point; Hwang is the national famous scientist in the field of Embryology. Finally, although the significance and advantage of scandals is so obvious and necessary, the disadvantage of scandals should never be ignored and neglected. On the one hand, scandals would distract us from more important problems which would by extremely urgent. The scandals of inappropriate relationship Clinton and Lewinsky, which immediately attract even the whole world's attention, distract the public from the essential vital problems, such as the military conflict in Kosovo at that time. On the other hand, posing too tight and improper observation on celebrities' private lives would also lead to calamity.
