Do you agree or disagree with the following statement. For someone who wants to be successful in the society, knowledge gained from study is more important than the ability of being creative(2006 年10 月15 日)
There a lasting debate on which one is more crucial for being succeeded in the society, knowledge gained from study or ability of being creative?
To settle this argument, we had better first clarify the definition of success. That is to say, what achievement contributes to a success? Apparently, different people have different ideas. And as long as their different sense of value, their stance in this debate will be wholly different. For someone think erudite, well-paid job, harmonious family constitute a success; knowledge gained from study is surely their key to success. To understand this, one need look no more than those multinational company managers who graduated with an honored degree from Stanford, Oxford, MIT and etc. They are being deemed as celebrities with no doubt. And for them, the origin of their prosperity is the lore they acquired from university. On the other hand, there are also people in substantial quantity hold the opinion that an only person who is capable of creating a sensation deserves worship. For these sticklers, the stem of success is novelty. In other words, only an inspired people have the potential to be succeeded. No wonder they thinks the ability of being creative crucial to succeed.
There’s also another element deciding which character is more significant of succeeding --- specialized area. That is to say, different field requires different qualities to be in the lead. Traditional industries, such as finance industry, service industry, require their practitioner to maintain abundant knowledge in how to deal with different situations and observance to industrial regulations. In these areas, well-educated personnel are by all means an eligible candidate to the top. However, in some newly industry or more creative industry, such as art, innovation means everything. After all, it is his inspiration and imagination out of delicate skills made Kandinsky the representative of Abstract art.
As discussed above, it is really too pontificate to conclude whether knowledge or creativity is more important to success. After all, different people have different talent and aspiration; and different area requires disparate capabilities. So, it may be safer to just follow your own mind. |
