众生平等，都有生存权利。人在不损害自身利益的前提下应关爱其他物种。

     Nowadays the protection of environment is attracting more and more public attention. And there comes the controversy over whether we should make extraordinary efforts in order to save the endangered species. Some people argue that the extinction of many species is due to natural process, thus the efforts we are now making in preserving those species seems to be useless. However, in my opinion, this view is rather egocentric than rational.
    It is true that we do see lots of animals were wiped from the surface of the planet long before human can exert any significant influence on. The extinction of an animal is often the result of the Natural Selection, which states that only the strongest and most adaptive animal will survive. As is known to all, dinosaurs were replaced by more adaptive mammals. just because they cannot fit the great change of the climate on the earth. But what should be noticed is that the rate of this kind of extinction is rather low, about only one kind of animal every 300 years. Right now, according to a report from the UN, everday there dispears one animal. Obviously, It is human activity that contribute to their extinction. Ivory, tiger leather, bird feather are all valuable, thus many kinds of these animal are killed and finally on the edge of extinction. Human destroy their lives, and it is high time to take our responsibility to protect them.

     Furthermore, eliminating many species may result in a disaster to us. On the one hand, human cannot live alone on this planet. The extinction of many animals gives us less diversity in the environment. Just imagine a world without any other creature except human, how bald it is.
       On the other, the delicate balance in nature would be destroyed if we are blind to the animals in danger of extinction. Take a bird called Dodo for example. After it disappeared, many tress grew on the island it lived died. Because these tress cannot germinate unless their seeds are digested by dodo. In conclusion, every species contributes to the balance of environment, the loose of anyone may even put human in danger of extinction.
  
     Last but not least, all kinds of creature are equal and they all have the right to survival. It is undeniable that human can dominant all other animals, but we should not abuse this ability. Animals can be used to make food, clothes and medicine. Considering how much they have contributed to the prosperity of our society, why can’t human make efforts to protect them? In the civil world, I find it shameful that people are so selfish that refuse to save animal in severe danger.

    To sum up, I strongly believe that we should try our best to save endangered species. It is our duty to compensate them for our destructive impact on their living environment. In addition, the existence of variety of species is necessary for the long term development of our society. Only by protect them can our world be a cozy one.
