Some people argue that our lives are full of 'have to's and destinies. They reckon some times there exists no choice. The students have to learn certain curriculums even they are not in favor since the entrance examinations will have certain tests. The workers have to work regularly since they are regulated by the job. The society has to develop as it is doing now since this will maximize the wealthy. But do we really have to do so in those conditions? From my perspective of view, the life is a full of choices one. The reasons of people’s tendency to ignore the fact are the inertia, selfishness and shortsighted views.

Are we selfish or shortsighted? People have regulated the society to function efficiently since industrial revolution, different technologies have applied to make its civilians live convenient and comfortable, different species are dying out and the environment on earth is getting worse. It seems there exists no options other than utilizing oil, which people believe is the only method to motivate the world. Wrong! It seems that we have to sacrifice the environment to fulfill reaching the dreamland that the society is wealthy. Wrong again! Choices exists, energy from geothermal, wind, solar and so forth can also motivate our society effectively. The reason of our choosing is the price the clean energies will take, in other words, the greed of human beings. Since the oil is cheap compared to those energies, we continuing pollute the earth and never proliferate the clean energies. The humans are selfish and shortsighted that as it is hard to predict the negative effects 100 years later instead of realizing little changes nowadays, we can utilize the oil without feeling guilty. Actually, we are pretend to face the situation of no choices because of the selfishness and shortsighted views.

When it comes to individuals, people are also pretend to have no choice. A lot of my friends are decided to pursue a master degree after graduation as they reckon there is no suitable job for them that they have to do so. Choices exist even though start a career with an unsuitable job, one can finally achieve success if he keeps hard working. People tend to believe that they have no choice as they do not dare to take the challenges of the real society. Choices exist that one should choose not to play too much video games or hanging out with girls but acquire the knowledge before graduation. That is, people could choose before the day they believe of no choice. People tend to believe that they have no choices but seldom asking why. The no-choice situation is merely an excuse of the humanities of inertia.

Admittedly, there do exist certain situations that we cannot choose. One cannot choose to be born in a poor or rich family. If been born in a poor one, one cannot choose to buy luxury goods as his peers in rich families have. The situation seems desperate. But why does one choose to admire the luxury good and a richer family. People can also feel love, which is the most precious good that can never be purchased, in a compared poor family. Why not choose to admire the love from parents though they are not rich? Choices exists that one can choose to become rich via his own effort. Why does one choose to complain about he was not be born in a rich family? Pathetic people are shortsighted that cannot realize the valuable things they already have. Wisdom people is able to choose the positive attitudes.

So, do we have choices? Some times yes, some times no. The tendency to believe there is no choice especially in some difficult situation is due to the drawbacks of humanities. And for those no-choice situations, we can still choose to ignore, to appreciate and to complain about it.
