The 21st century has begun. What changes do you think this new century will bring.

The technology was developed at an unprecedented speed during the last century, and as most people believed, the 21st century is bound to be even more significantly changed. As far as I am concerned, I think the most major changes are expected to be found in environmental issues and knowledge access.
The environmental issues have already been hot discussed for a long period of time. After several times of industrial revolutions, the detrimental effects we forced on the environment are becoming more and more manifest. Therefore a large amount of people are getting aware of the serious situations. In the new century, more efforts are expected to be done in protecting our earth. For example, scientists may find new resources to provide energy, which means we not longer need to burn oil and coal in large scales. Also new laws will be formulated to supervise relevant institutions to purify the polluted water and air. It’s hopeful that the next generations can enjoy lives in a more beautiful planet.
In addition, our ability to access knowledge will advance to another degree. Ways to accumulate knowledge has evolved all through our history, but all those were comparatively slow until, with the coming of science, the tempo was suddenly raised. Computers and Internet enable us to increase knowledge in a fantastic way that even the most enthusiastic dreamers before could never image. But in face of the challenges of the new century, that is still far from enough. More and more areas will plug in to the Internet and add their information to the vast collection of knowledge. The sharing of knowledge will also help to increase literacy around the world. The knowledge access will in its turn add to science and technology.
In conclusion, I am very optimistic about the changes that will come. Environmental issues will be solved and we will enhance our ability to access knowledge in order to develop the new age of civilization. Everyone has good reason to be excited in this fast-paced, evolving time.
