As what was said by Victor E. Frankl, “to pursue the meaning of life is to fulfill the goals you have ever set.” Ａ person who have the ambitions to make his or her dream come true is undeniable. Ｈowever, if he or she aggressively hold the opinion of accomplishing the goals without taking other things into consideration, then he or she would make troubles.

Ｔhe definitions of the word “worthy” is varied. To some extent, a worthy object not only meets the individuals needs, but also makes contributions to the society. As the public, we never think highly of a scientific invention or a technological innovation just because we know the scientist’s great idea about the uncreated objects. The standard of the meaningful of the goal is specific and practical, that is making people convincing that the results is useful to address the problems during the present days.

Even though the goal is worthy to the public and can take uncomparably good effect to society, the consequence of the fulfillment is unworthy, once the procedures to fulfill the goals is devastating to people to accept. The essence of the wars can explain my opinion. The international conflicts are based on the political and economical national interests and sometimes with the racial biases. The goal of war for A country is worthy does not mean for B country is worthy as well. Take the Iraq War for instance, with the increasing shortage of imported petroleum of America, the goal for the government of the United States is to acquire more and more petroleum supplies, but Buth’s government destroy Iraq’s tranquility and prosperity with the so-called humanists’ kindheartedness of undermining the depressing government of Sadam. In short, it is condemned to accomplish the goal by hurting others’ interests.

In every field of work and every realm of professionals, there exist a large number of regulations and constitutions for people to obey. That means, you can not freely do what you like even though the consequence of this work seems nice to fulfill a goal. In the field of science, the work of a scientist is to make studies and take great researches then hit the goal of making brilliant inventions and innovations to the society, but can we say that a scientist make a gorgeous contribution society by plagiarizing other’s works? And in the realm of the art, the goal for an artist is to create the masterpieces with imaginations and perspirations. But can we say that a piece of oil-on-canvass is a masterpiece while the painters are busy in flattering the critics to get fake evaluations of the GREAT WORK. When it comes to the reservation of the traditional architectures, the problem is about the fact that whether we should destruct the ancient and traditional architectures for the usage of the modern high-efficiency activities. The means which would be taken to attain the goal must be under control.

To sum, the claim is limited in that the worthy goals are not determined by the individuals themselves, but also by the public who enjoy the sweet fruit of the hardship to attain the goal. In addition, those who have ambitions should consider more about the questions that how should I do it without hurting others, which idea should be safely followed to make dreams come true.

The vice president for human resources at Climpson Industries sent the following recommendation to the company’s president.
“ In an effort to improve our employees’ productivity, we should implement electronic monitoring of employees’ Internet use from their workstations. Employees who use the Internet from their workstations need to be identified and punished if we are to reduce the number of work hours spent on personal or recreational activities, such as shopping or playing games. By installing software to detect employees’ Internet use on company computers, we can prevent employees from wasting time, foster a better work ethic at Climpson, and improve our overall profits.”

The vice president for human resources at Climpson Industries are willing to enhance his employees’ productivity. He suggests that in order to improve the productivity, they should use electronic monitoring to detect their employees’ work condition and punish those who wasting their time on private entertainment. Furthermore, the vice president concludes that if they install the useful software, they can prevent employees from wasting time and make their employees fostering a better work ethic, then they can improve their profits as a whole. However, the vice president obviously ignores some necessary factors to make the conclusion adequately.

First of all, the vice president fails to consider and rule out some factors that might account fot the low productivity of their employees. That is to say, are there any activities of the employees making them so passive to do their own work? May be the private use of the accompany computers are not the main reason that cause the decrease of the overall productivity. May be there are many potential problems that causes the serious situations of the office such as the stress of the economic crisis, the decreasing salaries, and so on.

In addition, the use of the electronic monitoring can not exactly lead to the declination of the number of work hours spent on personal or recreational activities. There is no evidence provided by the vice president that the way to detect his employees by an electronic monitoring is sufficient, and the punishment that conducted by the president is always useful. May be his employees will be harassing to do all the work with the horror of being glaring at by an electronic eye, then the productivity of them may be lower than before.

Finally, what the importance for my opinion is that the establishment of the better work ethic and the improvement of the overall profits are not just based on the installation of the software to detect employees’ Internet use on company computers. There are many ways for a company to promote its employees’ productivity, such as offering some training lessons for its staffs or giving more fringe benefits to them other than using a cold fake eye to keeping a check on employees.

All in all, the ways to enhance the employees’ productivity are varied. The vice president should consider more about the questions that what is the thing can instinct his employees’ interest in doing their work and what is the better way to make his people give up the bad work ethic. And the vice president should take more investigations about his people, not just take extreme measures to constrain his employees’ activity.

History is a mirror which can not only reflect the past, but also reflect the future. The study of history has been being continued by generations past and present. Why do they devote their lives as a whole to clarify the truth of what happened and find a theory to explain the phenomena in the modern society? Ｔhat is because the instinct of the researchers force them to create a better life compared with the present one, and make contribution to the human beings’ understanding of their behaviors. Ｏur people living in the modern society should treasure the great works that was made by the historical researchers.

Ｉt is essential for human beings to know the similarities of different people living in different periods, since history provides us a chance to identify ourselves such as where are we from, what is the originality of the faiths we pursue. Ｔhe identical living conditions and the same position of the classes provide people living in present days the traditional lifestyles and ways to address some problems which may be caused by the same reasons as the past. Ｔake the architecture for instance, people living in the area which has adequately rainfalls intend to build the strange round domes of their houses, if we study the structure of the ancient houses, we could find some solutions of building the modern houses in the area where is full of rainfalls.

Ｈowever, we cannot ignore the differences of the generations’ lives which was reflected by the ＭＩＲＲＯＲ. Ｉn the field of education, the regulations and the constitutions, which were enacted by the professional institutions, were bases on the particular ideas which can help the historical researchers introducing the theories of educational reform . Ｗhen it comes to the politics or idealism of different countries in different time, the development of a country and the measures which were taken by different governments can provide the unchangeable experience to modern governments to make the practical policies of the nations.

Ｌast but not least, the destination of studying history is also of significance. Ｂy studying the individuals and situations in the past, the students can test their moral sense and cultivate their characters. Ｎo one cannot be moved by the sad story of the genius poet Ｙeats, no one cannot be moved by the great mind of Ｍarx who donate his life to the emancipation of human race. Ｗhat’s more, people who living under the historical circumstances always gain the inspirations which was provided by the great individuals and make their lives more colorful and successful. Ｐeople can exactly get the lessons in courage, diligence, or constructive protest, which are provided by the man and woman of history.

Ｗith the broaden eyes of the information age, we still should hold the opinion that if we just only want to come up with the speed of the modern superficial life standard and neglect retrospecting the past of human beings, we would be in knotty problems. Ｊust because the study of the history that make us enable to live normal lives with the permanently meaningful guidance of the past.
