History, a mirror of the evolution process of human beings, reflects the root of the society no matter during the increasing tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace or amidst the gathering clouds and raging storm. Though, with the rapid development of the society, every so often, the same values in history cannot lend some credence to modern society, still history prevents people from the detour as well as preserves the merits of human nature.

In this era of increasing social and technological change leading to the complexity of the world, the values and attitudes to certain things cannot be the same as in the history. Consider the choice to work. Once, in the society without mechanization, there is no concept of unemployment. And people can find a job in workshop, factory and plant. They had not to worry about the work and rare competition existed then. However, the industrial revolution brings out the modernization of machines as well as tools which resulted in the job lost among people. Nowadays, hundreds of thousands of people have to hunt for a job. If one hold the identical ideas about work as their forbears, the person losing the job may be him. In short, we cannot keep the same ideas to certain aspects as the people before us.

Nonetheless, history, which is replete with the failure, can prevent us from the detour. For instance, history tells us no dictator can continue their cruel dominance for long. Hitler, an aspirant who wanted to control the world in the Second World War, finally come to end. Nowadays, avoid the happening of the history again, leaders in vast majority of countries insist the principles of equality, freedom and democracy. They comprehensively recognize the significance of the democracy and prudently listen to the opinions from the public. In this way, the world is in a relatively free status comparing with the history.

Furthermore, the history can preserve the merit of human nature and hand it down to be the motivation of the progress. George Washington, the first President in American history, directed the American revolution and finally lead people to win the independence of the America. Though vast majority of the world is in peace people still memorized this great figure and what he did offer a reminder that the belief of resolution and courage, loyalty and patriotism should be persisted. Also, the exploration to other planets especially to the moon in the history, inspired generation and generation to the study of astronomy. Hitherto, every year, myriad of youths choose astronomy as their major owing to the courage from astronomers landing on the Moon. Thus, it is the curiosity and courage drawing from the history endows the novel task to people nowadays and inspire them to explore the unknown world.

All in all, history is the beacon of hope when people bath in a sea with vast choices and options. Only through appropriate study of history can we reap a bumper harvest and hurtle towards the bright future.
