WORDS: 549
TIME: 00:45:00
DATE: 2009-2-24 11:30:58

I agree with the speaker's general assertion that the government should place few restrictions on scientific research and development. Yet, a contrary point has revealed that the development and research of science need the understanding and support from the government as well. Thus, what I have in my mind is that the government should support the development of the field of science with a due consideration to supervise on it.

It is true that the research in science has its great importance to the development of the entire human society, while too many restrictions on it will possibly keep the science from developing. Admitedly, the science sometimes goes too far for the general people to catch up with the advanced ideas. And the political leaders in the government have their limitation especially in the field of science which would resutl in a misunderstanding and impedation in the research of scient. For example, the Gene programs which can creat a human with a few cells collected from human body. It brings huge debatation to the public that whether we should transform the nutural way of birth to an experimentally creation taken in the cold lab. In this situation, the government would possibly overlook the significance of the gene technic and follow the advice to forbedon the research. This illustrates the possible immaturity of the government when dealing with the problems in the field of science.

However, some of the researches in the field of science have already caused problems, such as the environmental problems. On one hand, the high-developed science has supprised the public in that the breakthrough it brings has absolutely change the way people live. Exampled by the internet, which has even been used to name the contemporary century, through what people nowaday can easily communicate and doing business with others thousands mile away. On the other hand, the science disappoints people by bringing new problems while solving old ones. For example, the high-tech industries now are blamed for its polutions towards the natural environment. And also the cars and other transpotations caused serious air polutions worldwide. Those scientific developments set the people into panic and wandering whether the conflict btween the science and the nature would find its new balance. And also, who will take the responsibilities of the problems led by the scientific researches? The scholars and the researchers should not be blamed and the users-- victims as well—should not be blamed either. Thus, the obligation comes to the government.

Furthermore, the proper restrictions on scientific research would not impedate the progress of science but keep the development in a right direction and ensure that people will benefic from the new technology. Obviously, the restrictions on scientific research means government would pay more attention on it and in turn, show the support to the research politically and financially. Therefore, the restrictions reflect the scientific research’s position in the society and indirectly inspire the science to develop quickly and healthly.

Without the government’s restrictions, the scientific development would possibily loss its direction and even harmful to the contemporaries and the descendants. In coclusion, in spite of the immaturity of the government’s dealing with the scientific problems—which would be improved in the near future—the proper restrictions on scientific research and development are necessary and demanded.

楼主写作应该尽量少倚赖小宝的书,自己想一些提纲。另外开头用I agree with冒的风险很大。你的打字速度真快,向你学习!
