What is the science and what is the art? I assume that the reason for the author raising the issue lies in the reality that the public tends to compare the science to the art. Actually, both of them lay the fundamental effect on each other.

To some extent, the purpose of art is to upset the former achievement of the field of art. As we know, the gorgeous masterpieces were made by the creative minds and by those who dare to challenge the convention of the theory. Especially in recent centuries, more and more school of arts arises to build there own principles to provide large numbers of stimulus to irritate the public such as the revolutionary breakthrough of drama by Brecht’s Alienation Effect. Through this way, the scientists find the impossible in the mundane life. While the function of science is, on the contrary, find the possibilities which under the cover of the complex phenomena. Science is the effort to discover and increase human understanding of how physical reality works, and the outcome (which also can be regarded as an aspect of the functional significance of science) or product of this empirical scientific process is the formulation of theory that describes and human understanding of physical process and facilitates prediction, then the human being’s never afraid of the unpredicted and unknown world.

However, we cannot ignore the other purpose of art, since art is so complicated and the goal of art is so controversy in different school of arts that we cannot describe it one-sidedly. The word ART, from the Latin, originally meaning skills or masteries, definite the fact that the skill of art is important for the artists to obtain. And we should notice the fact that before the artists’ upsetting of the specific field of art, all of them should have acknowledge the significant position of the former or even ancient artistic works. Without the effect of the Holy Bible and Hormer, James Joyce would not accomplish his rebellious work Ulysses. It is funny that the case in the field of science is that even though the function of science can be largely regarded as the fixation of people’s thought, the function of science also cannot be solely pointed as reassurance or something like that. （写到这里TIME IS UP）Since the field of science
are commonly classified along two major lines: natural science and social science. The goal of natural science is finding the myth of the natural world around us while the goal of social science is challenging the social doctrines that was included in the laws the regulations and the theories in different social subjects.

Lastly, the value of them can be treated as the same: keep the solid attitude in the complexities, and never show the fierce emotion to other subjects. After the issue, I think that different subject has its special principles which always have something to do with each other’s.
