In this argument, the author points out that the purchased advanced ticket tickets for the Glenville Summer Concert Series has declined, which is not due to the unpredictable weather but the mismatch of the music choices between the concert and the public. The author also gives a solution for the sales decline. By deeply analyzing the reasoning of the argument, it contains several logical flaws, which render it unconvincing.

A threshold problem with this argument involves the author arrogantly denying the possible reason for the sales decline that the weather has been unpredictable in the past few years by mealy the reason that many people attended the concert in bad weather. The author failed to supply specific data on how many people had been to the concert during the bad weather comparing with the concert at good weather. It is entirely possible that, other than some super fans, there are a large amount of people, possibly the "many people" mentioned by the author, whose attendance depend on the weather, so when the weather becomes bad, the ticket sales would decrease. In addition, the decline of ticket sale is happening to the advance ticket, while those people who would like to attend the concert may prefer buying normal ticket, in which case, many people attending during bad weather can not be sufficient reason for holding the sales stead.

The argument also assumes incorrectly that the reason for the decline is the choice of music so that the organizers of the concert should arrange more modern music. The author provides no evidence showing that the decline is related to the music choice and ignores a host of other possible causes of it. This decline of ticket sale could be caused by the economic recession, or quality of the performance, or even there being a great television show as an alternate of people's choice. On the other hand, even if the music choice did cause the decline, there is not guarantee that switching to modern music would attract more audiences. It is possible that most people in that area are old and prefer listen to classic music. Without ruling out all these possibilities, the author fails to convince me music choice is the reason for decline.

Moreover, assuming above mentioned have been substantiated by other evidences, the strategy provided by the arguer do not have to be the solution. The argument overlooks a myriad of other strategies which should possibly be applied at the same time. For instance, the music style has been changed; however, we still need advertisement to inform people to come. In addition, by switching to modern music, the quality of the performance needs to be ensured, otherwise, the concert will remain unattractive. Further more, we could possibly enhance the ticket sale even better by improve other features like services, and more reasonable ticket price.

In sum, the author’s argument is unpersuasive as it stands. To strengthen it, author needs to provide more information related to the attendance during bad weather. In addition, the provided solution needs to be substantiated and more details on implementing it.
