Cornea, a five-layer structure in the transparent front part of human eye, usually is easy to be injury, which can be caused by a lot of reasons. According to the lecture, it is spoken that just something like a ball hitting your face also can cause cornea injure. Moreover, any flying debris can be regarded as a cause, when you working with a saw or machine. Another cause is getting some chemicals in your eye.

Symptoms of a corneal injury contain different forms, like eye pain, sensitivity to light, bloodshot eyes and the forth, as the reading passage said. Further, you can get a corneal inflammation known as keratitis, presented in the listening material, if your eyes are exposed too much ultraviolet light. In this case, the outermost cells of cornea are inflamed and if it becomes more serious, vision may be impaired. Usually, the symptoms of Keratitis do not show up at once until a couple of hours.
