2-1 section a

It is in the place that the tales ....

2-1 section b

There are external costs when the price set by buyers and sellers of goods fails to include some costs, to anyone
20     前4个选项在 specific directives, market incentive modifications, criminal prohibitions, and changes in decision-making structures里有

There are external costs when the price set by buyers and sellers of goods fails to include some costs, to anyone, that result from the production and use of the goods. Such costs are internalized when buyers pay them.

For the smooth operation of this cycle, degradation is just as important as synthesis: the green plants produce great quantities of polymers, such as cellulose, and innumerable other compounds like alkaloids, terpenes, and flavonoids,
26     The release of the carbon in these compounds for recycling depends almost entirely on the action of both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and certain types of fungi.

2-2 section a

17     题的定位  ironically, the plight of female delinquents receives little scrutiny because they are accused of committing relatively minor offenses A有一个more frequently  没有讲频度问题

We suggest two reasons why this view persists. First, female adolescents are accused primarily of victimless crimes,
victimless 和题目的damage to persons or property(D)
相反
22     It appears that the Hawaiian Islands were created in such a manner by a single source of lava, welling up from a hot spot, over which the Pacific Ocean plate passed on a course roughly from the east toward the northwest, carrying off a line of volcanoes of increasing age. Two other Pacific island chains—the Austral Ridge and the Tuamotu Ridge—parallel the configuration of the Hawaiian chain;
第二段第一句说了plate moving……,然后又说夏威夷 was created in such a manner..Pacific Ocean
passed on a course  和题目 apparent cours对应

25     When a continental plate comes to rest over a hot spot, material welling up from deeper layers forms a broad dome that, as it grows, develops deep fissures.
a hot spot develops deep fissures

2-2 section b

Sixteen days after they were moved to Illinois, the oysters opened their shells widest when it was high tide in Connecticut.

24     Whatever the claims that photography might make to be a form of personal expression on a par with painting, its originality is inextricably linked to the powers of a machine.
26      photography has two antithetical ideals: in the first, photography is about the world and the photographer is a mere observe who counts for little; but in the second, photography is the instrument of intrepid, questing subjectivity and the photographer is all.

B: 长阅读 4/7  19, 21, 22, 23;  短阅读 1/4  24;

B: 短阅读 2/4  17, 18;  长阅读 3/7  21, 24, 25;

No 3-1 section a

20  Both novelists use a storytelling method that emphasizes ironic
Many readers are convinced that the compelling mysteries of each plot
可以让你排除C和E though.....seems to。。。。

26   equivalent temperature decrease that is unrecognized because of the shortage of meteorological recording stations.
Climatic conditions are delicately adjusted to the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere.

27  volcanic activity

No 3-1 section b

restrictions 不是 intended to promote the growth of meat animal  文章用restrictions 引出了 plasmids的问题,全文重点放在最后一句了

These are facets of knowledge .but are less critical than the adolescent's absorption ......
文章是说political knowledge promote political ideology

24  Much of the naiveté that characterizes the younger adolescent’s grasp of politics stems not from an ignorance of “facts” but from conventions of the system,

26 定位到第三段第一句 misled about the tempo of political understanding

所以要注意 until the adolescent has grasped the integumental function that concepts and principles provide, the data remain fragmented, random, disordered.)

No 3-2 section a

21 These poets were not unusually gifted

III. Is the study of racemization reactions useful in estimating climatic changes that occurred during Pleistocene glacial cycles if only one of the two important variables is known?

27 could not be unequivocally ascertained  B为什么不行?

No 3-2 section b

22 The first step toward establishing a connection between protein synthesis and learning seemed to be block memory (cause amnesia) by interrupting the production of protein.
a connection between protein synthesis and learning

25   In our frustration, our initial response was simply to change drugs rather than our conceptual orientation

More importantly, the notion that the interruption or intensification of protein production in the brain can be related in cause-and-effect fashion to learning now seems simplistic and unproductive.
  protein production
就是Protein synthesis

several components of the total learning system

4-1 section a

21 第二个为什么不行 independence from the very nation
担不是 had founded the colonies.
担不是 had founded the colonies.
那句话说的很明显contradiction is a source of embarrassment  然后就需要知道contradiction是什么

20  most of the Eastern states had made provisions for the gradual emancipation of slaves.

THE OTHER
Hamilton just went a step further than Fisher

What is the approximate sex ratio

25  predict future events
that the best strategy to adopt depends on what others are doing.

4-1 section b

He was also inclined to literary realism in the several senses of that phrase.

19  第二段有一个破折好的位置 the style—that sure index of an author’s literary worth—

When a relaxing impulse was indulged, the style—that sure index of an author’s literary worth—was certain to become verbose。  verbose=wordy

various impulses were sacrificed
取非
就是compromise

22  unfortunately, instead of exacting a compromise, simply disappeared.是一个disapproving observation
In this instance, the new impulse was at least an energetic one是 the other of which does not.

26  SUN是THESE STARS 的前身

4-2 section a

19 Using past events as a framework, the large mammal predator is working out a relationship between movement and food, sensitive to possibilities in cold trails and distant sounds-and yesterday’s unforgotten lessons. The herbivore prey is of a different mind. Its mood of wariness rather than searching and its attitude of general expectancy instead of anticipating are silk-thin veils of tranquility over an explosive endocrine system.
Using past events as a framework,

relationship between movement and forrd

was due in great measure to the interaction between two ecologically synchronized groups of these animals
It ranges from a passive, free-floating awareness to a highly focused, active fixation.
特别是里面有一个 range from passive to

25   Most of them  —  wealthiest one percent
most of the wealthy were not self-made, but had inherited family fortunes.

his iconoclastic study
D are well documented 不是. the author’s main point

4-2 section b

17  17的D
Society as Allegory for the Individual

18  literary critics’ cavalier dismissal of Woolf’s social vision will not withstand scrutiny.

21   She describes phenomena and provides materials for a judgment about society and social issues;
it is the reader’s work to put the observations together and understand the coherent point of view behind them.

22  . As a moralist, Woolf works by indirection, subtly undermining officially accepted mores, mocking, suggesting, calling into question, rather than asserting, advocating, bearing witness: hers is the satirist’s art.

23   But Virginia Woolf was a realistic as well as a poetic novelist, a satirist and social critic as well as a visionary:

26  because of the enormous quantity of deuterium in the sea.

There is a good way to improve reading, try to get my post and try to practice hard on the second round review, you can get a framework of RC and you will hardly do wrong on some question types, and then again the third round review will help you to practice what you learned from the second round, do not ignore this round, because when I finally take test, I have no tip for any question types. The tips I summarized are all translated into a feeling, I can easily correctly choose the answer according to my feelings, you have to practice to get those tips all translated into a habit. Before you practice, try to think “why those answers are wrong?”, “Is there anything common in the wrong answers?”, “And in the right answers?” Try to comprehend what is "related" and what is "unrelated",do not easily judge, try to comprehend what is "related" and what is "unrelated"?? What is "related" and what is "unrelated" information (choice), that is a very important rule to quickly rule out some wrong choices and the next is “what is conform to the author”, “what is conform to the author's attitude”, and “what is not (also choices)”. If you see, try to read the passage again for the attitude info, this is a great rule to rule out some wrong choices, the attitude thing and I can tell you that, I did all the RC infer question without relocate because I can easily rule out wrong answers, memorize the pattern, and try to practice. Without practice, you can get nothing. But it is the goal; you should do something before hand. First, categorize all the RC questions You should guarantee 100% right on "main idea" type questions, try to collect all detail questions, I mean those with line number or key words, try to get these right answer back to the passage. You will see some question rules. I do not want to tell you because you can get the rules by yourself, if I tell you the detailed rule, you will not certainly get what I mean. Then collect the "structure type", and promise yourself you can do 90% right or higher, it is just easy like "main idea and attitude" thing. Do you know why you should get question types apart? First, you can get suttle feelings about how to make a question Second, you can get info about how to prepare to do those questions when you are reading the passage, it is very important to get the question right, you will see when you finished summarizing, you can easily tell that “oh, I think ETS will make a question in here", when you are reading the passage, when you know there is a structure type questions, you will think following questions when reading: 1. why the author write this paragraph? 2. What he want to tell us? 3. Is there any change in attitude? 4. What is the function of the detail in this paragraph? 5. What may be the relation between this paragraph and the whole passage? That is very important! Not everyone do that when reading, so they have to relocate info and it cost precious time, you should analyze the question like "what can I get the answer when I read", it is equal to "what part of passage I should read carefully when I read", I get all passages reread and underlined what part is the key to question. I mean on the passage using fluerecent pen, it is very clear. Second: try to get all infer question collected, try to contrast the answer and the original text and try to get what is wrong about the wrong questions Why they are all wrong, do not stop on why they are all wrong when you can get some feeling like "too extreme", you should think hard on how to quickly rule out some of them, that is the "related/unrelated" stuff. And the "attitude" stuff, which I mentioned above, the infer questions are very important if you want to get higher scores such as 730+. You should categorize on subject matter, you will see that what the "science" passages want to test you on. The most important is "the whole logic relation between facts and stuffs", you have to get the logic relation between A,B,C,D...A lead to B, C can restrain A. D can restrain B, you must quickly realized that both C and D can restrain B, only A can lead to B, you only should memorize the "either lead to or restrain" relationships between things, do not get it more complicated, you will confused if you do not memorize or memorize too much. So just lead to or restrain, just support or do not support, that is enough for quickly ruling out most confusing wrong answers without relocating. When you get 文科 passages, pay more attention on 列举, when you get economic and management passages, pay more attention to the logic推理顺序and support/unsupported relationship. You can easily get the feeling if you summarize and can get detailed feelings. Third: 1. Try to directly get all the answers from passage because you are familiar with the passages. Do not see the questions, try to get what may be a question here 2. When you finished reading, try to write the frame in Chinese (or English) in a paper. It is quite like to write down 机经, do not read questions, do not read the passage when you write the frame, Why you have to do this? --To know what you have forgotten and the capacity of your memorization and you can improve in the next passage. Every paragraph, five questions and what may be the key point for questions and finally you will improve on the ability to memorize more of the passage framework, the more and the clear you can memorize the frame of the passage, the less time you have to spend on questions, practice in this round and try to get all your tips summarized into reading, you cannot tell clear rules finally, and you have get the all steps. On the third round, try to answer the questions after finish the writing. Why? Try to practice "related/unrelated" and "conform or not conform to the attitude" rule, this is all I know about RC review and try to practice more passages in one day on the second round. The more you can get in one day, the stronger you feel about RC, it's easy to say but very tough.

19  racial prejudice is generated by capitalists,所以 没有capitalists 就没有racial prejudice
19就是文章第一句话,因为unique to the capitalist system所以在noncapitalist society里面不存在

he has to reason that such antagonisms were not really based on race.

24  it is not the quality of the sensory nerve (sensory nerve: 感觉神经) impulses that determines the diverse conscious sensations they produce, but rather the different areas of the brain into which they discharge, and there is some evidence for this view.

27  Although qualitative variance among nerve energies was never rigidly disproved, the doctrine was generally abandoned in favor of the opposing view,

No 5-1 section b

21  a new theory is the goal and end result of the creative act. Innovative science produces new propositions in terms of which diverse phenomena can be related to one another in more coherent ways.
NEW THEORY = NEW PROPOSITIONS

24  Does anyone claim that the goal of extraordinary creative activity in the arts differs from that of extraordinary creative activity in the sciences?
YES

1,highly creative activity transcends the limits
2, What highly creative artistic activity produces is not a new generalization that transcends established limits, but rather
所以highly creative activity ==a new generalization

27 选的A
Stravinsky  不是Unlike Beethoven,
Haydn and Mozart, Handel and Bach

No 5-2 section a

18 that objects are recognized as wholes in a parallel procedure

19 When an object is encountered again,
again

24  The Amazons were often characterized, for example, as the equivalents of giants and centaurs,

25  Their customs were presented not as those of a respectable society, but as the very antitheses of ordinary Greek practices.

5-2 section b

17  once thought to be fundamentally
Vinaver theory
Vinaver theory

18  but of rejecting its implications:that they are as separate as the works of a modern novelist.
所以 有 I

19  b是错的,因为irrationality of considering Malory’s romances to be unified.
refined but legitimate observations==valid and subtle
1。Vinaver theory that Malory’s eight romances说明V的COMMENT对M的 romances,作评价
2。theory’s refined but legitimate observations说明V的COMMENT valid and subtle

20   Part of this response was the natural reaction to the disturbance of set ideas
SET IDEAS 就是once thought to be fundamentally unified,

The natural radioactivity we find on Earth is the long-lived remnant of the time when now-earthly matter was expelled into space by a major stellar explosion.

If these exchanges are below one electron volt,
If one goes to higher energy exchanges,

25  As long as we are dealing with the atomic or nuclear realm, these new types of particles do not occur and the nucleons remain inert.

26  would probably be
As long as we are dealing with the atomic or nuclear realm, these new types of particles do not occur and the nucleons remain inert. But at subnuclear energy levels, the nucleons and mesons appear to be composed of quarks, so that the quarks and gluons figure as (figure as: 扮演...

a fantastic map sense 前面是一个but,句子到这里已经截至了。后面的in a new method of accounting 和前面没有任何关系

a work of criticism是a work that criticize the black author's fictions

Although these molecules allow radiation at visible wavelengths, where most of the energy of sunlight is concentrate

human morphology---------> human behavior. == details of human behavior ------------>imposing constraints

25  comprehend thoroughly their adaptive origins in order to understand how badly they guide us now.
comprehend thoroughly===control to any extent over
understand how badly they guide us===hey function
a full understanding of why those frailties evolved and of how they function
control to any extent over 其实是  control over, to any extent

27  看那句话. frailties are presently maladaptive
Yet!! beneath the overlay of cultural details, are said to be biological in direction. and therefore as natural to as as are our appendixes

able to use this rich stock of abstract terms to express the nuances

23  Grazing pressure can vary according to the individual type of zooplankton.
Cladocerans had higher grazing rates than copepods, usually accounting for 80 percent of the community grazing rate.
Cladocerans        copepods  就是  the individual type of zooplankton

culminating in a military conflict that led to victory for the US
22   researchers believed that they never got to any part of the brain other than the hypothalamus,
bind in places other than the hypothalamus, indicating that either the hormones or substances that cross-react with the antiserums are present.
23   定位到最后一段 a theory must be developed that explains their function in the brain.
a 错的原因可能是题目说 would force scientists , 而a那个已经是 can not 了, 不用would 了

No 8-2 section a

c 是 piano suites ,文章是 brief suites
20   However, there is no reason to assume that ragtime is inherently mechanical simply because commercial manufacturers applied a mechanical recording method to ragtime, the only way to record pianos at that date.

19   Yet this rush into practical applications is itself quite understandable

20   This underappreciation of the social sciences==the observation
overutilized== their overutilization.

B  discussing problems involved in providing an accurate picture of the Pleistocene epoch”是对的。
22   答案就在第一段but a period of oscillating climate with ice advances punctuated by times of interglacial climate

23   was based primarily on a series of deposits and events not directly related to glacial and interglacial periods, r

24   Yet this succession was forced willy-nilly onto the glaciated parts of Northern Europe,

26   Although the time involved is so short, about 0.04 percent of the total age of the Earth, the amount of attention devoted to the Pleistocene has been incredibly large,

27   the chill truth seems to be that we are already past the optimum climate of postglacial time” ,past the optimun climate of postglacial time

18  Granted that the presence of these elements need not argue an authorial awareness of novelistic construction comparable to that of Henry James

19  19 rigidity in any interpretation of this or of any novel is always a danger。  rigidity == inflexible

before 1763 was dictated by commercial interests and that a change to a more imperial policy, dominated by expansionist militarist objectives

24  24  all of whom were bent on extending centralized executive power over England’s possessions through the use of what Webb calls “garrison government.”
然后在找到the purpose of garrison government那个地方,明白了
而B说symbolic presence of the military

, these governors tried to prevent the gentry and merchants, allied in the colonial assemblies, from transforming colonial America into a capitalistic oligarchy.

27   27  :
William III persuade Parliament to create a professional standing army, and Parliaments price for doing so was to keep the army under tight legislative control

Hence, it is necessary that a critic develop a sensibility informed by familiarity with the history of art and aesthetic theory.
18  18 :it is insufficient to treat the artwork solely historically, in relation to a fixed set of ideas or values
a fixed set of ideas or values 相对应的就是 artistic element of uniqueness that requires subjective reaction;也就是artwork’s unique qualities
19  19
And here she faces a dilemma.
The critic must recognize the artistic element of uniqueness that requires subjective reaction; yet she must not be unduly prejudiced by such reactions. -----------passions
it is necessary that a critic develop a sensibility informed by familiarity with the history of art and aesthetic theory-----------------.intellect.

The writing of E F Z clearly exemplify this tradition
CULTURAL ACCOMODATION

S
culture of the majority.

24  In contrast, the “colonialist” approach of island-based writers such as Eduardo Seda-Bonilla, Manuel Maldonado-Denis, and Luis Nieves-Falcon tends to view assimilation as the forced loss of national culture in an unequal contest with imposed foreign values.

25  the forced loss of national culture in an unequal contest with imposed foreign values.
imposed foreign values.
This cultural and political emphasis is appropriate, but the colonialist thinkers misdirect it, 是不是这一句
那么就已经说明 他们regard the political AND politcs  as a significant factor

第一句还是在批驳colo的 approach but the colonialist thinkers misdirect it  表示全段的基调

18  altered to achieve the fundamental requirement
altered to achieve the fundamental requirement
need to be adjusted to ==== altered to

resolve the contradiction.=== fundamental requirement

a system free of contradictions, even if, in some cases, the alteration consists of labeling the new observation a “hallucination.”

Classical empiricism 只有confirm an existing generalization 没有 initiate a new generalization.
Classical empiricism
ANY OBSERVATION OF A NONRED BALL REFUTES UNEQUIVOCALLY THE PROPOSED GENERALIZATION

STARS WOULD DIE AS SUPERNOVA,但是实际上没有
