又写了一篇,这次逻辑上我好好分析了一下,请老师给看看,多多批评指教!
The environment issue is too complex to be handled by individuals, agree or disagree?
Nowadays, you may always hear of a sentence, that is, The problem of environment is so complex that our individuals can do nothing about it. Advocates view that in order to solve environmental problems, we should invest a large amount of money and energy which individuals cannot afford. Opponents, however, insist that it is our duty to protect the environment, and only with the help of every individual, can we solve the tricky problem. When it comes to me, I definitely fall into the first category.
Few people can deny the fact that when we try to solve a big environmental problem, such as dust storms in Beijing and oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico, it is very hard to confine it to one single region or county. In view of the problem covers so large amount of area, only with the help of countries and international organizations can we solve this kind of issues. From this point, it is too difficult and too complex for any individual to solve such kind of problems.
Besides, a tremendous amount of money which used to solve environmental problems are too heavy for any individuals. For instance, in 1998, the Government of the People’s Republic of China spent over 10 billion dollars to stop the deforestation which is the main factor contribute to the form of dust storms in Jilin province and inner Mongolia. It is not hard for us to understand that 10 billion dollars is an enormous figure for our ordinary people, and it is a big number for our country as well. More importantly, one single person does not have enough money to polish up their living environment, which is precisely why more and more environmental organizations such as Friends of Earth in Hongkong and WWF are founded by people in recent years. Thus, I believe environmental problems are too complex to solve by individuals due to the money they needed.
Nevertheless, we should bear in mind that individuals are also playing very crucial roles in coping with environmental issues. Ordinary individuals, on the one hand, can protect the environment simply by saving water, planting more trees, recycling paper and so on and so forth, on the other hand, can take part in many kinds of environmental organizations to protect the environment.
In conclusion, I would argue that even though environmental issues are too complex for individuals, however, without individuals environmental problems may never be solved. |
