Politicians should pursue common ground and reasonable consensus ratherthan elusive ideals.

The speakerapproves that politicians should pursue common ground and reasonable consensusrather than elusive ideals. I partly agree with the speaker's opinion. But maybe in some circumstances ideals of the politicians have their significance.

I must firstly saythat politicians should satisfy most people's needs. That means they mustpursue common ground and reasonable consensus as the speaker says because thepolitics of a nation is to ensure the nation runs with a minimum of contention.Take China as an example, the politicians of China excessively emphasize therapid development of the nation in recent twenty or thirty years. Nowadays, thestrength of the country is improved rapidly and the international position ofChina has also enhanced a lot. China has become a country with powerful abilityon industry and agriculture. But it is a serious problem that the gap betweenrich and poor also becomes very big which makes most people's life quality verylow. If the politics of China cannot resolve this problem, the development ofChina must be influenced significantly in the long run.

But may besometimes, some ideas cannot be admitted with most people of a nation, butthese ideas are totally right and reasonable. In the history of American, theposition of black people is very low; they usually discriminate by othercitizens. The white man or woman may have reach a consensus that the blackpeople should earn less money and do the labor work which is more toilsome. These circumstances change little until the civil rights movement which is ledby Martin Luther King. He recommended the idea that black people should enjoythe equal right with other citizens. But these ideas cannot be accept by mostcitizens of American in that time. Nowadays with the improvement of the positionof black people, the society of American has become more harmonious which provethe idea of Martin Luther King is right.

In conclusion, thepoliticians should satisfy most  people of their nations to ensure thestability of the nations but at the same time accept some ideas to guaranteethe development the their nations.

I must firstly say that politicians should satisfy most people's needs. That means they mustpursue common ground and reasonable consensus as the speaker says because the politics of a nation is to ensure the nation runs with a minimum of contention. Take China as an example, the politicians of China excessively emphasize therapid development of the nation in recent twenty or thirty years. Nowadays, the strength of the country is 加being improved rapidly and the international position of China has also 加been enhanced a lot. China has become a country with powerful ability on industry and agriculture. But it is a serious problem that the gap betweenrich and poor also becomes very big(改成significant感觉更好) which makes most people's life quality verylow.(which lowers XXX 感觉更好) If the politics of China cannot resolve this problem, the development ofChina must be influenced significantly in the long run.

But maybe sometimes, some ideas(题目是ideal )cannot be admitted with(by) most people不被人民承认?我觉得这个和题目的表述有差别 of a nation, but(一句有两个but) these ideas are totally right and reasonable. In the history of American(America), the position of black people is very low; they 加are usually discriminated by other citizens. The white man or woman(复述) may have reach a consensus that the black people should earn less money and do the labor work which is more toilsome. These circumstances change little until the civil rights movement which is ledby Martin Luther King. He recommended the idea that black people should enjoy the equal rights with(like好点?) other citizens. But these ideas cannot be accept by most citizens of American(American citizens) in that time. Nowadays with the improvement of the position of black people, the society of American(American society) has become more harmonious, which proves the idea of Martin Luther King is right.

In conclusion, the politicians should satisfy most  people of their nations to ensure the stability of the nations but at the same time accept some ideas to guaranteethe development the their nations.

[The following memorandum is from the business manager of Happy Pancake House restaurants.]”Butter has now been replaced by margarine in Happy Pancake House restaurants throughout the southwestern United States. Only about 2 percent of customers have complained, indicating that an average of 98 people out of 100 are happy with the change. Furthermore, many servers have reported that a number of customers who ask for butter do not complain when they are given margarine instead. Clearly, either these customers cannot distinguish butter from margarine or they use the term 'butter' to refer to either butter or margarine. Thus, to avoid the expense of purchasing butter and to increase profitability, the Happy Pancake House should extend this cost-saving change to its restaurants in the southeast and northeast as well."

In this argument the author advocates that the Happy Pancake House should extend the cost-saving strategy that change the butter by margarine to its restaurants in the southeast and northeast as well.
Although this argument seem reasonable at first glance, since just little customers complained about this changethe author should provide more evidence to bolster this argument.

Firstly, the author indicates that just 2 percent of customers have complained which means 98 people out of 100 are happy with this change. Although this is entirely possible, the author offers no evidence to substantiate this crucial statement. Maybe that 98 percent of customers also cannot satisfy with changing the butter with margarine, they just wake away rather than complaining. But they may use other methods to indicate their unsatisfying. They may not come to these restaurants any more or they just tell other people do not go to this restaurant. The author's reasoning is definitely flawed unless the author can convince me that this and other possible scenarios are unlikely.

Besides, the author assumes that customers who ask for butter do not complain when they are given margarine instead which can substantiate that they cannot distinguish butter from margarine. Nevertheless, there is no guarantee that it is the case, and the author does not supply any evidence to conform this assumption. It is quite possible that the consumers can distinguish the margarine from butter distinctly. They just do not complain about that and may be they will never going to this restaurant again. Without accounting for and ruling out this and other alternatives explanations, the author cannot bolster the recommendation.

Last but not least, even though we admit that consumers in southwest Unite States really cannot distinguish the margarine from butter and the cost-saving strategy is useful in this place, we cannot assume this strategy also works on the restaurants in southeast and northeast. Maybe consumers in these areas care more about the taste of the butter and they can distinguish the differences between these two kinds of butters. Even if they also do not care about the change, the author false to assume that this strategy can help the restaurants avoid the expense of purchasing and increase profitability. Maybe the raw material of margarine in these areas is very expensive so that making margarine will cost more in these areas. To reach the cited conclusion, the author must explain either why none of these alternatives is available.

To sum up, the arguer's argument mentioned above is not based no valid evidence or sound reasoning. In order to draw a better conclusion, the author should reason more convincingly, cite more evidence that is more persuasive, and take every possible consideration in account.
