Do you prefer to finish a project completely then to another one or do two or several projects at a time?
For most people, project is not a strange thing in their lives. From elementary school to walking into career, people's life is filled with all kinds of projects to finish, sometimes people even have to deal with two or more at a time. Some people may feel frustrated, however the others handle them very well and enjoy it. For me, if I can choose, I prefer the former way to do my work.
On one hand, I believe which way people choose to do a work depends on people's ability. Some guys are good at dealing with different things at a time and they enjoy the various conditions. However, the others like to devote their whole attention and energy to do a single work at a time instead of struggling to keep balance in various projects. I am one of the later. When I was a kid, I have found I loved to paint pictures in a whole day until I got a satisfactory one, or I could spend a few days on sewing an awkward doll for myself. When I did that, I felt peaceful and confident, and I was creative and did my work very well. Once I was bothered by other things, I would lose my patience and be nervous so that I could not pay my attention on my work then I felt frustrated and sometimes confused. In this way, I have the ability to finish one project at a time very well and I enjoy the process so I prefer this way.
On the other hand, doing one project at a time helps me to do my best, then ensures the success of my project. Have you ever felt tired to always try to keep balance in different tasks? Have you ever regretted your failure caused by incomplete devotion? Believe me, I know your feeling. I ever got three projects with the same deadline at a time. Every day, I had to remind me again and again that I had three projects to do, and I also made a detailed schedule to divide my time into three parts in each of which I forced myself to do the appointed project. That was total suffering, and I even was waked up by nightmare in which I forgot one project and messed it up. Then in order to do each project well, I stopped two projects temporally and focused on only one. Finally, I finished my projects very efficiently and smoothly before deadline. So complete devotion to one thing leads to success, however distraction causes failure.
In a nutshell, I prefer to finish one task at a time not only because I am good at and enjoy doing things in this way, but also because in this way I can focus on it the most which increases the efficiency and guarantees success. |
