Must the government financially invest in major cities for the reason of preserving a nation's cultural traditions, as the speaker asserts? Admittedly, cultural traditions always developed together with the evolution of the cities. However, I fundamentally disagree with the statement because this overstates the importance of major cities and masks the real reason to grant the financial support.
To begin with, it should be acknowledged that major cities do generate some customs, behaviors and ways of life in the history of civilization. With the long-time accumulation, cities will be more likely to be the breeding ground of the culture and the stage to display traditions of the nation. Consider, for instance, at the weekends citizens in Beijing are still attracted by watching the Peking Opera, which is widely regarded as the highest expression of Chinese culture and tradition.
Despite the facts of the speaker's claims, the statement seems to imply that it is feasible and necessary to finance major cities.
With the respect of the feasibility of the recommendation, in fact, in the massive tide of globalization, interdependence and interactions between different cultures become ever stronger. As a result, major cities may serve as a center of culture communication. You can see a myriad of Chinese young people, especially in big cities prefer to listen to the rock music, watch the Hollywood movies and eat pizza in dinner time. What's more, these changes find expression in not only the customs and ways of life but also the recognition of the cultural traditions. Thus it is difficult for a nation's tradition to survive individually in the urban areas and the financial support will only lead to a further invasion of other cultures.
With the respect of the necessity of the recommendation, it is troubling in two aspects. Firstly, for saving the previous traditions, supports in other aspects apart from the finance are needed, which may include the long-term publicizing and education, the establishment of suitable atmosphere and so on. Secondly, even if providing financial support is essential, then the rural areas should be put the first on the list. Actually, the remote villages are the origin of some culture traditions, which is unfortunately ignored by history. And owing to the inconvenient transportation, other patterns of traditions exert little influence on it. One apt illustration involves a small village called Lijiang. It is a place blessed with fresh air, clear stream and unsophisticated Naxi people. The life and tradition there remain undisturbed during hundreds of years. Obviously, these areas do contribute to protecting the cultural traditions.
To sum up, I admit that it is necessary to invest major cities. After all, the economic stability of major cities plays a pivotal role in the development of the nation. However, when it comes to preserving culture traditions, the government should grant support in various aspects and pay more attention to the rural areas.

Must the government financially invest in major cities for the reasonof preserving a nation's cultural traditions, as the speaker asserts?(貌似用must引导问句很不地道阿,Do……need应该比较好)Admittedly, cultural traditions always developed together with theevolution of the cities.
