Do you agree or not with following statement: most people solve their important problems by themselves or with the help from their families; the help from government is not necessary.
With the development of individualism, more and more people try to solve important problems of their own independently or only with help from their families. A prevalent tendency begins to emerge--we do not need the government any more. If just take a further step of investigation, however, we could find out that every one of us would be so heavily dependent on the governments.
First, Government can function as the architect of the society, a role which no individual can take. Government can effectively solve many important problems which need to coordinate the resource of the whole state of even the entire country. Only the government has the big picture that how to build the infrastructures of the country. For example, by careful design and thoroughly consideration, government can decide how to build the transportation system such as high-way or rail way of the country, how to spend money on education, medication, science research, etc. No individual can solve such kind of important and influential problems of such a large scale.
Another important function of the government is to bring justice to the society by providing law to protect the citizen and punish those who against the law. Justice is something that cannot be obtained only by one person's effort, no matter how much effort he/she makes. For example, if some stronger person takes your properties by force, the best way to protect yourself is not to fight against with him/her alone, but to call the police. This simple example just shows one aspect of the governments' importance as it plays a crucial role to protect the individual's right.
Admittedly, there are still lots of critical problems of each individual that government cannot resolve. For example, how to conquer the difficulty of an important exams, or how to choose a husband or a wife, etc. Such kind of personal issues can only rely on one’s own effort or support from the families. We should not ignore the great importance of self-help, which is the one of determine factors for one's success.
In one word, we should admit the some important problems can only be solved by one's own effort, but we should also realize the significance contribution of government when we face the problems of a much larger scale.
