Phd Student Positions in Geotechnical Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Position: PhD student (Jan 2024 Entrance), successful applicants can come to Hong Kong and work as research assistant before January.
Supervisor: Dr. Andy Leung obtained his PhD degree from the University of Cambridge, and is currently an associate professor at PolyU. His research interests are structure-soil-pile interaction, application of machine learning in geotechnical engineering, and spatial variability of soil properties. Qualifications: Applicants should have 1) A master's or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or other related subjects (geological/mining etc.), with a GPA higher than 80/100; 2) An overall score of at least 6.5 (at least 6 in writing) in the internationalenglish language testing system (IELTS); or a test of english as a foreignlanguage (TOEFL) score of 80 (at least 23 in writing) or above for the internet-based test or 550 or above for the paper-based test. Normal Period and Scholarship: For applicants with a bachelor's degree, the normal study period is 4 years. For applicantswith a master's degree, the normal study period is 3 years. Successful applicants will receive scholarships (approx. hk$18,000/month). The department will also provide additional research and travel support and offer a range of professional development workshops and events for our PhD students. Research Assistant Position
The monthly salary is hk$16,000 or above. There is possibility of transfering to PhD program if considered good performance.
