The speaker asserts that some people think that an effective leader should yield to the public opinions, others believe that the most essential quality of a leader is to remain consistently to their particular priciples. My view aligns more closely to the statement that leader should listen to the public opnions in some degree, but I also concede that an effective leader should also sustain his/her particular principles and objectives.

An important characteristic for leaders is that they have their own particular priciples and objectives which help them to be the bellwethers in the era. They can stand out of people because they have special of excellent apts which can deal with problems perfectly and predict the trendency of different fields of the country. People selcet them as leaders for they believe they can guide the country to wealth and development. What's more, these special priciples and objectives are also treasures for a country. The people always simulate the leaders personalities and follow their peiciples for they believe it is the priciples that makes them be a leader. In contrast, if a leader without such priciples and just follow what
the public wants they to do. They will not be a good leader.

However, a leader with particular priciples does not mean that he/she can do whaterver they want for the rights they have all come from the people they serve to. As they are elected by the people, he/she must do what they can to serve the people and lead the country to a better status. When they have the mights, they also shoulder resposibilitis. If they just do what they want according to his/her own priciples without limitations, it will finally lead the country to damage and ruin and be harmful to the democracy. For instance, the dictation or tiranny comes from these. And the public opinions are just the limitations. The people's wills are the best criterion of a leader.
If the leader is doing well,they will have few complaints and appraise you. But if the leader is doing what may be harmful, they will be oppsed of the leader. The public opinions are important information sources for a leader to refine his/her policy and behavior which can help he/she better served.

In my opinion, an effective leader should not only have their own objectives but also follow the wills of public. It is not an irony. On one hand, people select he/she as a leader for they believe they have the abilitis to better govern the country and make a better welfare of all of the citizens. A person without such abilitis or priciples that can attract and satisfy the people will not be elected. On the other hand, leaders are elected with resposibilitis, so they must serve the country and the people as better as they can to achieve thier goals. And the opinions come from the public are often good indicaters of what the leaders should do next to realize the aims. In addition, I concede that sometimes the public opinions may be mislead or confused, so they can not be an accurate indicater of the people's opinions. It is important for the leaders to remain consistently to their priciples to avoid tumulous. But they should distinguish confusion and opinions at first.

To sum up, the stantard of an effective leader is always worth debating. I wholly agree that a leader must have particular priciples and objectives which they should insist on in some degree. Nonetheless, if a leader does not follw his/her people,
it will finally lead the country to disaster such as ditation and tyranny.
