ISSUE: as people rely more and more on technology solving problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate.

Whenever you have any question, you can google it. It’s already been a common sense worldwide. With the development of internet technology and the accompany technology for the accessability of internet, nowadays people rely more and more on internet for finding out solutions to different questions. The condition is also fit for other kind of technologies such as telecommunication, modern vehicles, and so on.

Most of the time, modern technologies do help us living a easier and more convenient life, for with internet, one can easily know what’s happening on outside the world and what’s the new trend nowadays which is conducive for better quotidian plans, and with telecommunication technologies, however far away, people can get touch with each other efficiently, comparing to the archaic way of writing letters. A recent research conducted by Dr. Friedman points out that nearly 95% of the respondents (mostly confined to the group of age 15-50 for they are the main consumer target group of modern technologies) replied that he/ she would refer to the internet or contacting friends by email or message to solve an emergent problem when figuring out a task. Additionally, in order to find out the trend in the elders, another survey with different questions was implemented. For those elders, still a high percentage over 50% of the respondents show that they do daily work with modern technologies such as washing machines, floor cleaning machines, etc.

Above positive response to the claim mainly confine those quotidian and working problems to a basic level, such as some technical problem during work or about housework. One can’t take all the problems facing by human beings are banal and subtle peremptorily. There do exist some problem which is ethereal and hard for us humans to figure out easily. But the doubt is, are technologies capable of solving these ethereal problems independently? The answer is obviously NO. And the only way to solve these problems lies in human.

A PHD of physics is doing his experiment in the laboratory for his thesis. Since the topic he chosen is quite hard to solve, it’s already took him months thinking about the program to solve out the numerical solution towards the model. Technically, since the calculation is so complicated, so after the program is figured out, one still need the computer to do the calculation. But the truth is, before the Phd figure out the program for the problem, computer can done nothing to help solving the problem.

Still, there are circumstances that with the help of technologies towards quotidian and banal housework, people get more spare time to think for themselves deep questions and make more interesting and meaningful findings. The research data shows, as for an individual, if he has to do the tedious cleaning and washing every day by himself, that would cost him about 3 hours per day with the total housework (this data is for average considering different conditions, such as area for apartment). For a physician, if he has to waste 3 hours per day about those tedious housework, will he get any breakthrough in his field of studying?
So before we give out the final conclusion, the definition of “ability” in the claim needs to be given out. Ability doesn’t just refer to the capability to solve basic problems, it is far more broaden when considering to ethereal dimension which will point to the capability of deep thinking towards superstructural problems. And the ability is not just inborn, it can be also exercised through time involving.

Considering the definition of ability, to be more justifiable, people do rely on technologies about basic problems which can be also solved by inborn ability of human beings; but the ability for thinking over superstructural problems will be enhanced by time involving when those inborn ability are not time consuming.
