提纲:反对
1.首先我们无法判定什么目标是值得的。
2.即使目标确实是值得的,所谓的任何手段也不是能够控制的
结论:综合考虑
WORD: 583 NO TIME LIMITED
In this topic, the author asserts that any means to attain a worthwhile goal can be jutifiale. According to the statement, it seems that the author has two claims: first, people can judge whether a goal is worthy; And second, people can take any means to attain the worthy aim. However, I disagree both of his claims for its ill-consideration and arbitrary.
On one side, whether a goal is worthy or not is rarely straightforward issue, even if it has been experienced for many years. the value of a goal depend to one person's value, and so different people have different comments on the same goal. Take the clone technology for example. The final goal of clone technology is service for humankinds. For the scientists, to apply the clone technology for the human will satisfy their pursuit; for those patients who suffer malignant tumor, amputation, even the parents who lose their children, human reproductive cloning technology will help them restart their lives, get their limbs back and live with their children again. Yet for those bioethicists and people who don't use cloning technology, the birth of Dolly bring them panic, none of them can accept the clone human. Indisputably, the value of a goal, many of us believe, relies on the benefit of the human being. Whereas, when we illustrate the development of science and technology, we will find people always make the problem oversimplify. In fact, the goal to develop the science and technology is correct; also we must recognize that it is a two-edge weapon which can be use equally for good or evil. Could any spectacle, for instance, be more grimly whimsical than that of gunners using science to shatter men's bodies while, close at hand, surgeon use it to restore them? In short, to evaluate the value of a goal is too difficult whether from the different personal value or the benefits of the human being.
On the other side, Even if a goal is actually worthy, to take any means to attain it is not advisable. As we know, we must take various ways to attain a goal, even experience much failure. The the difficult process which Nobel got the success of explosion is a good illustration. But any means mentioned by the author is too absolute. Getting data of the effect of cold on people is a worthwhile goal, and could we make people dressing nothing stay in North Pole without consideration of their fates? The goal that researches the women's eggs is worthy, and could we illegally procure eggs from the female donors without informing them of some possible serious effects of egg donation? And to prevent the wolf destroying the sheep flock of herdsmen is also correct, and could we indiscriminate hunt the wolf without consideration of the ecology balance? Obviously, all the means above all cannot be taken, meanwhile, are not advisable.
In sum, whether the goal is worth cannot be over-simply defined by the personal value, and more relied on the social value. Even if the goal is in the society’s interest, we should weigh its advantage and disadvantage. Meanwhile, the means to attain the goal should be restricted its negative effects. When we take any mean to attain a goal—even if the goal is worthy, the negative effects brought by these means should be avoid. Only if we consider the goal and its mean in all aspects, the means we take will be useful and the goal will be really worthy.
